Ce hedge fund , regroupe plusieurs fonds d'investissement alternatifs . Entre le 1 er juin 2007 et novembre 2008, le montant des actifs sous gestion chez Paulson & Co. est passé de 12,5 à 36 milliards de dollars (dont 95 % proviennent d' investisseurs institutionnels ) [ 1 ] . En 2007 uniquement, le fonds gagna 15 milliards de dollars [ 2 ] . Paulson & Co a réalisé une grande partie de ses profits en anticipant les problèmes qu'allaient connaitre les marchés immobiliers et des mortgage backed securities (MBS). En 2008, Paulson décida de créer un nouveau fonds dont l'objectif est de tirer parti des problèmes de capitalisation des entreprises américaines, en prêtant de l'argent aux banques d'investissement et autres hedge funds qui en avaient besoin.

Tiger Management Corp., also known as "The Tiger Fund," was a hedge fund founded by Julian Robertson . The fund began investing in 1980 and was closed in March 2000. [ edit ] History Julian Robertson, a stock broker and former United States Navy officer , started Tiger Management in 1980 with $8 million in capital. By 1996, the fund’s assets had increased to $7.2 billion in value. [ 1 ] On April 1, 1996 BusinessWeek carried a cover story written by reporter Gary Weiss , called "Fall of the Wizard", that was critical of Robertson's performance and behavior as founder and manager of Tiger Management. [ 1 ] Robertson subsequently sued Weiss and BusinessWeek for $1 billion for defamation .
