10 Content Ideas To Improve Organic Visibility

In the past series of articles, we focused on determining what keywords were already generating business for a web site and then optimizing your existing pages to improve organic results for those keywords. When we work on a comprehensive marketing project for a client, we first learn about their business and then discover what marketing tactics their competitors have employed. At the same time, we learn what web venues are available to focus our marketing towards. http://searchengineland.com/10-content-ideas-to-improve-organic-visibility-112160

Don’t Panic! A Hitchhiker’s Guide to Surviving SEO Changes | Outspoken Media

STILL WITH US?! I hope so. Because I’M still here and trying to trick my body that I don’t need coffee! We’re going to talk about how to survive SEO changes. Or how not to get hit by a car. It’s really the same thing when you think about it.
http://www.copyblogger.com/semantic-keyword-research/ Ever hear two people arguing and then someone dismisses their differences like this: “Well, that’s just semantics”? What the person means by that is the difference boils down to “just” a difference in the meaning of the words. In other words, the meaning of a word isn’t all that important. Really ? For serious SEO professionals (and marketers), the specific shades of meaning of a word can make a world of difference. That’s why modern search engine optimization has gone beyond basic keyword research into synonym creation, semantic search optimization, and further into semantic themes.

Find Your Site's Biggest Technical Flaws in 60 Minutes | SEOmoz

The author's posts are entirely his or her own (excluding the unlikely event of hypnosis) and may not always reflect the views of SEOmoz, Inc. I've deliberately put myself in some hot water to demonstrate how I would do a technical SEO site audit in 1 hour to look for quick fixes, (and I've actually timed myself just to make it harder). For the pros out there, here's a look into a fellow SEO 's workflow; for the aspiring, here's a base set of checks you can do quickly. Types of Social Media Content to Boost SEO

I’ve written often about the benefits of going viral in both content and marketing strategies . Increasingly, however, social media content (a.k.a. viral content) does more than increase brand recognition and site traffic: it can also boost your SEO signals. As search engines pay more and more attention to social signals, going viral is rapidly becoming one of the best ways to build links, attract attention, and establish authority and legitimacy in your field. 15 Minute SEO List - Learn how to SEO

Thank you slashdot :-) Here is a checklist of the factors that affect your rankings with Google, Bing, Yahoo! and the other search engines. The list contains positive, negative and neutral factors because all of them exist. Most of the factors in the checklist apply mainly to Google and partially to Bing, Yahoo! and all the other search engines of lesser importance. http://www.webconfs.com/15-minute-seo.php

How do you tell the difference between someone who knows exactly what he or she is doing and someone who just knows a lot of lingo? To help out, Rand Fishkin created an interview primer for a "Whiteboard Friday" video at the SEOmoz blog. He divides SEO-centric questions into three categories:

How Google Thinks About Content - Engage

http://engage.tmgcustommedia.com/2011/08/google-quality-questions/ S mart businesses know that in order to truly serve their customer, they need to put themselves in their customers shoes and learn to think like them. They need to feel their pain, understand their needs and figure out how they can serve people efficiently and effectively. Which is why it makes sense that when Google is serving their customers with search results they aren’t acting as robotically as one might think. They’re thinking: how would a real life human react when they see the content on this site? The algorithm attempts to calculate the answer to this question using ranking factors.

Utilising the power of the keyphrases that people use online has enabled me to make a full-time income since February 2009. I’ve spent the last two and a half years of my life doing nothing but using my own tactics, coupled with powerful resources, to analyse industries in order to get more website traffic. And, in-turn, make more money. http://www.viperchill.com/keyword-research/

What Makes an Effective Link Builder | SEOmoz

The author's posts are entirely his or her own (excluding the unlikely event of hypnosis) and may not always reflect the views of SEOmoz, Inc. Good link builders are a special breed of SEOs. There are a lot of solid SEOs in the industry, but effectively building links is much different from keyword research, copywriting, and technical analysis. I’ve been thinking a lot recently about what makes an effective link builder.
Content isn’t everything. Content isn’t the only thing. Often, it’s not a thing at all. I would say “content is king” is accurate, but only because there are only 44 current monarchs , the system doesn’t work everywhere, and those monarchies only account for a small proportion of the world’s population . If you’ve read my post on content link efficacy , you know that content as an explanatory model for everything link building is simply ludicrous. Creating the best piece of content, ever, on an insurance website will not produce the same results that the best piece of content – ever – will evoke on I Can Haz Cheeseburger .

A Model For Link Building: Beyond “Great Content”

There is No Duplicate Content Penalty from Google or Any Search Engine

By Jill Whalen The SEO industry has been plagued for years by a lack of consistency with SEO terms and definitions. One of the most prevalent inaccurate terms we hear is "duplicate content penalty." While duplicate content is not something you should strive for on your website, there's no search engine penalty for having it. Duplicate content has been and always will be a natural part of the Web.
Note: This is part one of a two-part series on the overlap between CRO and SEO and how they work together. Part two discusses how to do CRO without hurting your SEO . There’s also a video interview where I talk about SEO and CRO a bit too. We all know what a beautiful thing an effectively search-engine-optimized site is. Traffic flows in from natural search rankings without you spending huge monthly fees for pay-per-click ads.

How to Combine Conversion Optimization with SEO

A few months ago one of my clients has changed platforms. The new platform changed almost everything we’ve optimized on-site for years. It even messed up the obvious SEO basics like title tags and we’re struggling with them to this day as the platform maker insisted that title tags “get assigned automatically” in their system.
