Recently our company has joined the conversation by embracing social media as part of our integrated marketing plan, and now we work with our clients to establish Web 2.0 strategies. We use LinkedIn to leverage the experience of our group members, vet ideas, create new connections and re-establish relationships to increase sales and publicize the achievements of our clients and ourselves.
We have even found that in our sales process, sending an InMail has garnered a much higher response rate than using email or phone contact. With over 65 call centers, it is the second industry in growth after tourism, generating 40 percent of revenue for the overall DR economy. The call center industry has created around 22,000 direct jobs and there are hopes that as many as 100,000 new jobs will be added in the next five years.

Stealing themes from the world of political advertising, Microsoft on Wednesday rolled out a new television ad for its recently unveiled Bing search engine. The one-minute spot starts with dark, foreboding images of a failed economy -- foreclosure auctions, rising gas prices, unemployed workers, and the like -- and veiled references to rival Google. "While everyone was searching, there was bailing. While everyone was lost in the links, there was collapsing," the ad states. "We don't need queries and keywords if they bring about questions and confusion," it adds in apocalyptic tones.
