En un ritual repetido casi cada fin de semana en la última década, Luis Soriano reunió a sus dos burros, Alfa y Beto, delante de su casa, en un reciente sábado por la tarde. Sudando bajo el sol implacable de La Gloria, Colombia, sujetó las bolsas con la palabra “Biblioburro” pintado en letras azules a la espalda de los burros y cargado de libros, tomó rumbo hacia las personas que viven en los pequeños pueblos. Sus opciones para la lectura incluyen “Anaconda”, la fábula del escritor uruguayo Horacio Quiroga que evoca al “Libro de la Selva”, y algunos libros ilustrados de Time-Life (de los países escandinavos, Japón y las Antillas), y el Diccionario de la Real Academia de la lengua Española. “Empecé con 70 libros, y ahora tengo una colección de más de 4,800 en su mayoría por donaciones”, dijo Soriano, de 36 años, un maestro de escuela primaria que vive en una pequeña casa con su esposa, tres hijos y con los libros que se amontonaban hasta el techo.
