88 Min - BBC Documentary (1997) abt Sikhs - Who are the Sikhs? Singh, Kaur, Khalsa, 1984, Punjab. A Warrior's Religion. A Warrior's Religion : Director:Mani Amar | Producer:Mani AmarGenre:Documentary | Produced In:2009 | Story Teller's Country:Canada Synopsis: The idea for this documentary, “A Warrior’s Religion," has been germinating in my mind for the past three years. Growing up in a small town on Vancouver Island, I was insulated from many of the problems that have shaken the South Asian community in the greater Vancouver area; I am now familiar with the epidemic proportions of South Asian youth violence. Grim statistics, such as the death of over 100 South Asian males in their twenties over the last 19 years, led me to pursue my idea.

The documentary is poetic in nature and told in the manner of an unbiased editorial. It features interviews with community leaders, media personalities, and other prominent figures in the South Asian community, along with historical references, news footage, crime statistics, South Asian youth interviews, and cultural comparisons. Documentary on Sikh Religion. Introduction to Sikhism - The Sikh way of life. Guru Nanak's Hindu and Muslim followers began to be called Sikhs (learners). He taught them to bow only before God, and to link themselves to the Guru, the Light of Truth, who lives always in direct consciousness of God, experiencing no separation.

Through words and example, the Guru demonstrates to followers how to experience God within themselves, bringing them from darkness into light. Guru Nanak was a humble bearer of this Light of Truth. He opposed superstition, rituals, social inequality and injustice, renunciation and hypocrisy and inspired seekers by singing divine songs which touched the hearts of the most callous listeners.

Guru Nanak taught his way of life:Nam Japa - To get up each day before sunrise, to clean the body, meditate on God’s Name and recite the Guru’s hymns to clean the mind.
