My whole life I have never lived in a house so never been able to play a loud instrument carefree at any time of day or night. At best I would practice sax guiltily for an hour every so often in my 100-unit courtyard apartment, no one ever reported me but it wasn't worth the stress. Currently I can manage an hour a day at most in the parking structure at work during lunch, though I feel my chops weaken over the weekend, which gets me discouraged and I end up skipping days.

I have a practice/recording studio downtown but that's 35 minutes each way so not that convenient. I've tried playing in my car, open lots next to the freeway, by the beach, river, etc., but none has been easily accessible, comfortable, or safe enough to maintain with regularity. On a wintery night in 2007, the duo were in the process of a candle-lit recording session for haruka nakamura’s solo album “grace”. Instinctively, they decided to venture off the album recording and to compose a Christmas carol of their own.
