Audiopad Update: (11/2010) Be sure to check out my latest work ! Audiopad is a composition and performance instrument for electronic music which tracks the positions of objects on a tabletop surface and converts their motion into music. One can pull sounds from a giant set of samples, juxtapose archived recordings against warm synthetic melodies, cut between drum loops to create new beats, and apply digital processing all at the same time on the same table.
Note: I didn't include anything from the "nerdcore" genre because that's just too easy. Those folks wear their geekiness on their sleeves... or, since they're geeks, in their pocket protectors. Zinga ding dong. Let's do it.

A trio of Russian “skywalkers” was busted after they posted dizzying footage of their barehanded venture up a pair of nearly 800-feet-high bridges. Nineteen-year-old Vitaly Raskalov of Moscow uploaded the video online in early May, showcasing how he and two friends made their way up a pair of bridges in Vladivostok, taking breathtaking photographs along the way. The astonishing feat is an example of skywalking, a growing trend in Russia, in which photographers scale hard-to-reach heights for incredible photo-ops.

What is causing the waves in California to glow?
It looks like something from the movie "Avatar": ocean waters that light up like neon glow sticks when they splash. Beaches across southern California have recently been alight with eerie, glowing waves. What could be causing such an otherworldly phenomenon? A recent report by Discovery News has provided an answer. According to marine biologist Jorge Ribas, the glowing is caused by a massive red tide, or algae bloom, of bioluminescent phytoplankton called Lingulodinium polyedrum . The microorganisms emit light in response to stress, such as when a wave crashes into the shore, a surfboard slashes through the surf, or a kayaker's paddle splashes the water.
