The BBC Paedophile Protection Racket. On Advancing The Zeitgeist Movement. A large criticism of The Zeitgeist Movement is one of practicality. This is demonstrated in the general public broadly in two different ways – the first, a criticism of the movement being impossible to implement is an expression of what could be considered learned helplessness. This expression implies that even with the knowledge that people are starving to death and are selling one another out in pointless and contrived zero-sum games, on some level they know things could be better, but to overhaul an entire system is simply too much for one person.

And in a way, this attitude is entirely correct. The second criticism of The Zeitgeist Movement (TZM) is that of 'utopianism'. Some readers will shudder to hear this same criticism as not unlike the mythical hydra; as one head is decapitated, two sprout in its place. This thinking is known as cognitive dissonance. This mental state encountered in critics can be paralleled to a person suffering chronic depression. How To Reach An Anarcho Communist society. Generation OS13: The new culture of resistance. The Yes Men Fix The World, P2P Edition FULL MOVIE (2009) (w/subtitles) Killing Capitalism in the Name of Self-Defense | Salty Eggs. Art by Stephanie McMillan Global capitalism is killing the planet. It is turning the living world into dead commodities by exploiting the many for the profit of a few. Ecocide is the most urgent and immediate problem we face. If we don’t solve it, nothing else will matter. Economic troubles (not to mention our personal issues) will seem trivial. It may already be too late to avoid runaway global warming; and it’s certainly too late to avoid radioactive rain, shrimp without eyes in the Gulf of Mexico, and tap water that can be lit on fire.

But we can’t give up – not without a fight. Ecocide is accelerating because of capitalism’s constant need to expand into new areas. Because of competition between capitalists, which leads to a falling rate of profit, capitalism is structurally compelled to expand. Feudalism and all forms of class society have also had internal contradictions that drove them to expand. But we live on a finite planet with physical limits, which are being reached. Target: To be presented to every government in the world Petition Background (Preamble): What is a People's Mandate? If you desire change from your Government, then the proper process is to express your will.

When enough people express their Will, then it becomes a People's Mandate. A Democratic Government cannot ignore a people's mandate, pure and simple, as the "People" are the "Authority," and when the people express their will in the correct manner, our elected representatives "must obey" as they are public servants after all. Clean water, clean food, medical treatment and medicine, shelter, electricity, transportation are a human right, and not a privilege to be bought and sold. Petition: IT IS MY WILL that all the governments of the world take immediate and ongoing action to ensure that; 1. dispense with the monetary system; 2. that all resources are distributed based on the requirements of the people; Yours sincerely (the undersigned)

Leaflet. Spreading the Word Through Consistent Movement Wide Media Programs. As a follow-up to my first blog post (Why We Should Develop a Strategy for Online Activism), I would like to propose an idea that my chapter is currently trying out for the purposes of spreading the word about the topics, ideas, and issues related to a resource-based economy. As I pointed out in my last post, online activism can be a useful approach to activist work, especially in locations and chapters where venues for street activism may be limited for various reasons. In this regard, my chapter has started a BlogTalk radio program similar to the TZM Global BlogTalk Radio show, and the V Radio Show that we all are most likely familiar with.

A few other chapters such as the Zeitgeist Movement SW Florida chapter have also produced bi-weekly shows in the past. As it stands now, the current strategy of TZM as an organization includes holding two annual events—Z-Day and the Media Festival—and local town hall events wherever possible. Activist Letter. Hello, I am writing to you as an activist of the "Zeitgeist Movement" which is the largest grass roots activist movement ever and would like to gauge your thoughts on a modern scientific approach to the redesign of society In recent years, we have seen the rise of a global socio-economic malaise that has progressively eroded the freedom of Governments – irrespective of ideology - to implement their core values.

As we both know, the world’s monetary system is in terminal decay. National debts have grown beyond the capacity of any country’s GDP to repay, and progressive advances in mechanisation across the job spectrum are making human labour obsolete, steadily swelling the numbers of unemployed and stretching the treasury further beyond its resources. Hence our desperately needed renewable energy infrastructure is beyond financial reach, forcing a continued reliance on dwindling reserves of fossil fuels which are manifesting catastrophic climate change. The Revolution at Hand. La Liberté guidant le peuple is a painting by Eugène Delacroix commemorating the July Revolution of 1830 “Economists and theorists of innovation such as Jeremy Rifkin, Yochai Benkler, Michel Bauwens, and several others have concluded that the Third Industrial Revolution is at hand” are the opening words of a newly published survey by Statistical Studies of Peer Production.

It is indeed difficult not to note the success and increasing visibility of peer production — the decentralized alternative to large-scale industrial production first theorized in 2006 by Professor Yochai Benkler in his seminal book The Wealth of Networks — on the network scene and in factual reality. The Economist has dedicated an entire report to the phenomenon. Experts like Michel Bauwens (founder of the P2P Foundation) have been invited to lecture on the topic even at the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences .

Mediocrity is obsolete Design itself is being “tribalized.” What infrastructure? Ted Rall and the Basic Income for All. There's not enough jobs for everyone who needs money. Even when the economy was humming, there were many millions of Americans who couldn't find work. This problem will only get worse as technology improves and it gets cheaper to use a robot than a human. Just take a gander at this 60 Minutes piece "Are robots hurting job growth? " Even for folks who have a job, it sucks to be totally dependent on that job for your entire income and health insurance. As Rall writes, we've created "a society divided into two classes: the jobless and the overworked.

" We need to re-configure the way our economy is set up, because it isn't working for the 99% of us who aren't rich. If productivity increases year after year after year, employers need fewer and fewer employees to sustain or expand the same level of economic activity. If we could just separate work from income, we could change work as we know it and have an economy that works for everyone. Imagine if you had a trust fund like the richest 1% have. In a glowing appraisal of the movement’s achievements, Andrew Haldane, executive director of financial stability, said Occupy protesters had been “both loud and persuasive”, and had attracted public support because “they are right”.

“Some have suggested … that Occupy’s voice has been loud but vague, long on problems, short on solutions. Others have argued that the fault-lines in the global financial system, which chasmed during the crisis, are essentially unaltered, that reform has failed,” Mr Haldane said in a speech tonight. “I wish to argue that both are wrong – that Occupy’s voice has been both loud and persuasive and that policymakers have listened and are acting in ways which will close those fault-lines. In fact, I want to argue that we are in the early stages of a reformation of finance, a reformation which Occupy has helped stir.” Mr Haldane ended with a direct appeal to activists to continue putting pressure on governments and regulators.

Save the Internet! Is Congress computer illiterate? Open source movement. Programmers who support the open source movement philosophy contribute to the open source community by voluntarily writing and exchanging programming code for software development.[4] The term “open source” requires that no one can discriminate against a group in not sharing the edited code or hinder others from editing their already-edited work. This approach to software development allows anyone to obtain and modify open source code. These modifications are distributed back to the developers within the open source community of people who are working with the software.

In this way, the identities of all individuals participating in code modification are disclosed and the transformation of the code is documented over time.[5] This method makes it difficult to establish ownership of a particular bit of code but is in keeping with the open source movement philosophy. Get Internet Access When Your Government Shuts It Down. These days, no popular movement goes without an Internet presence of some kind, whether it's organizing on Facebook or spreading the word through Twitter. And as we've seen in Egypt, that means that your Internet connection can be the first to go. Whether you're trying to check in with your family, contact your friends, or simply spread the word, here are a few ways to build some basic network connectivity when you can't rely on your cellular or landline Internet connections. Do-It-Yourself Internet With Ad-Hoc Wi-Fi Even if you've managed to find an Internet connection for yourself, it won't be that helpful in reaching out to your fellow locals if they can't get online to find you. If you're trying to coordinate a group of people in your area and can't rely on an Internet connection, cell phones, or SMS, your best bet could be a wireless mesh network of sorts--essentially, a distributed network of wireless networking devices that can all find each other and communicate with each other.
