Difference between Modernism and Postmodernism. According to some theorists, the 20th century can be divided into two distinct periods; one characterized by the modernism movement and the other by postmodernism.

Difference between Modernism and Postmodernism

Some believe that postmodernism was a response to modernism and hence consider them as two aspects of the same movement. There are some major differences between modernism and postmodernism. These distinctions make clear, the basic difference in the ways of thinking that led to these movements. The difference between modernism and postmodernism highlights the difference in the approaches towards life. Modernism describes a collection of cultural movements of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Modernism Vs. Modernism began in the 1890s and lasted till about 1945. Modernism attempts to construct a coherent world-view whereas postmodernism attempts to remove the difference between high and low.

During the modernist era, art and literary works were considered as unique creations of the artists. Mathematics Education Research. A Conceptual Framework for Mobile Learning. Share: MyIDEAS: Login Powered by Translate Author Info Tétard, FranckPatokorpi, ErkkiCarlsson, Joanna Abstract.

Massive Open Online Courses Are Multiplying at a Rapid Pace. That’s what everyone is trying to figure out. Many places offer MOOCs, and more will. But Coursera, Udacity and edX are defining the form as they develop their brands. Coursera casts itself as a “hub” — Dr. What it Takes to Launch a Mobile Learning Program in Schools. A successful mobile learning initiative requires a thorough analysis of the capacity of the existing technological infrastructure, with careful consideration and planning for the demands of the new program, including broadband access, hardware and software, and technical support.

What it Takes to Launch a Mobile Learning Program in Schools

This analysis should include projections of demand and a review of recommendations for broadband requirements based on the number of users and bandwidth needs. Ideally, wireless connectivity should be available throughout a school campus to maximize the potential of mobile learning. The increase in usage will require additional data storage, possibly off-site. Facer - Faux - McFarlane.pdf. Above all, you should consider the range of mobile learning solutions (i.e., performance support and informal/social learning) in your repertoire of training strategies if you want to start down the path of mobile learning. As stated above, your instructional design process model must include paths to these strategies/outcomes. The traditional ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) and Human Performance Technology (HPT) methods may not be adequate or appropriate, where performance support and mobile learning may be better suited for your desired outcomes. Consider using an information design model to organize your content, if it is learning augmentation or learnlets (if it is going to be performance augmentation, then use the user’s actual workflow to organize the content). 7 Essential multimedia tools and their free alternatives.

Online Math - Teaching College Math

It seems hard to believe that we’ve been welcoming math instructors to Muskegon to learn about technology for four years now, but I guess it must be so. Registration for the 2012 “Math Tech Bootcamp” (as its affectionately known as) will begin at Noon EDT on November 9. I’ll be posting a link to the registration information on the morning of November 9 (register fast, this usually books in less than one week). Thought I would share some of the comments from 2011 participants: I would definitely recommend this workshop.

This workshop is great to help instructors bridge the technological gap which opened since their last computer class! I learned all of the things about that ‘I was afraid to ask’ about. This workshop is great value for the money because regardless of your level of experience with a specific item, there is something to be learned. The MCC Math Technology Workshop was excellent. There you have it. Journal of Online Mathematics and its Applications. CITE Journal Article. Volume 1, Issue 4 ISSN 1528-5804 Print Version Submit a Commentary Bell, L.

Deliver Virtual Classrooms For Remote Learning in the Cloud  Eliminate classroom setup hassles with virtual training environments Today's software buyers seek comprehensive hands-on training classes to get the most value out of their software investments and accelerate knowledge transfer.

Deliver Virtual Classrooms For Remote Learning in the Cloud

Training organizations are typically required to set up and maintain multiple training rooms with complex software, hardware, and network configurations or physically ship mobile labs to customer sites. This is an expensive and time consuming task that often gets minimal IT support. This endeavor also distracts trainers from their core mission: To create engaging training classes and educate customers. The challenge of setting up classroom environments and delivering high quality training creates a dilemma for training managers: How do you deliver fast, easy, and secure training to your most valued customers, while lowering costs and IT resource needs? Jo Debens, geography teacher, Priory School, Portsmouth The geography department at my school has been leading the use of mobile device in learning.

Throughout last year the mobile@priory charter was created and led by head of department David Rogers and co-constructed by students to enable them to use mobile devices in learning. This was trialled through the geography department and found great success with students becoming more actively engaged with their learning. Some of the examples of where we use mobile devices range from simply taking photos and videos to share in class or recording homework, to creating revision podcasts or animations.

The point often is student choice, encouraging independent learning and allowing students to choose what approach will suit them. On fieldwork, students can record images, video, sound, take notes, use GPS technology and mapping software to record information essential to their coursework.
