Finding extra dollars to put toward our preps can be a daunting task. Fear not fellow preppers. I’m going to show you how you can build your stores for as little as $5 a week. As I have mentioned in previous articles, I am a big fan of dollar stores and thrift stores. My favorite stores are forty-five miles away. Let’s start with my favorite store, the dollar store. The Emergency Preparedness & Homeland Security Department is responsible for preparing, planning and coordinating the various agencies that respond to emergency situations within Jackson County.

The department prepares for disasters and large-scale emergencies that are either man-made or caused by nature. It also coordinates both planning and response activities with other local jurisdictions and with other County agencies, including the Sheriff’s Office, Health Department, Public Works, Information Technology and the Medical Examiner. Emergency Preparedness & Homeland Security coordinates its activities with the State of Missouri Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and with federal (FEMA) coordinators to ensure that the citizens of Jackson County and their property are protected.

This team will be responsible for responding to disasters in our communities and abroad. Goal Team members are required to attend monthly trainings in a variety of different life saving techniques.

Upon receiving the call for service, these individuals are capable of mobilization within one hour. They can be deployed into the harshest environment, and remain self sufficiant for extended periods of time without outside assistance.
