Sl Gardel. Sl Cortazar. Sl Borges. “A man purposes himself the task of drawing the world. Among the years, he populates a space with images of provinces, reigns, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, instruments, heavenly bodies, horses and people. A while before he died, he discovers that patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.” J. L. Borges. SL Borges is a homage to the genial Jorge Luis Borges, illustrious Argentinean writer who lived between 1899 and 1986.

Sharply depicted by Augusto Costhanzo, SL Borges synthesizes to icons the big themes that obsessed him: the infinite, labyrinths, libraries, identity. SL Borges abridges a sum of original iconographic illustrations in True Type format, which masterly synthesizes the most important themes of the grand genius of the literature. SL Borges takes part of the “Icons of Icons” Gallery, developed by SinergiaLab for Sudtipos. Milk Script. The hand-lettered signage of 1920s and 1930s America produced many typographic jewels that digital type has yet to manifest.

This face is but one of them. Unearthed by Alfredo Graziani and Alejandro Paul from a 1923 Speedball lettering manual, Milk Script is a distinctive upright script that offers well-nourished majuscules and sweet-flowing minuscules. A non-connecting variation of this versatile display script is also offered for additional aesthetic control. Inlove. Mobley. Fonts. Bitstream. Bitstream is known among type enthusiasts and professionals alike as being one of the companies that lead the way towards the democratization of type. For centuries, the type world had been the exclusive domain of skilled typographers who worked large, cumbersome presses. With the birth of digital type though, came a revolution in the industry that enabled Bitstream, one of the first digital type foundries, to help grow the desktop publishing industry. The company’s founders shared a vision in which desktop publishing and digital type would open up doors and allow for the access of previously exclusive typefaces to a broader public audience.

Eventually, this idea of opening up the type market led to the development of fonts like Amerigo and New Lincoln Gothic; designs that played huge roles in the launching, and eventual success, of desktop publishing. Font Lounge.
