Serie A – Arts & Architecture. In dieser Ausgabe der Serie-A suchen wir nach Schnittstellen von Kunst und Architektur. Wie sehen die Einflüsse von Kunst auf die künstlerische Gestaltungslehre in der Architekturausbildung aus? Wie geht das zusammen? Kunst stellt Fragen, Architektur hingegen sollte Fragen beantworten. Die ausgewählten Forschungsprojekte dieses Berichtes beleuchten unterschiedliche Aspekte der Einflussnahme von Kunst oder Kunstpraxis auf die Architektenausbildung: Das Buchprojekt über die Bildgeschichte des Grundrisses skizziert eine Analyse aus kunsthistorischer und kulturgeschichtlicher Perspektive und veranschaulicht die Inhalte, die sich diesem Medium entnehmen lassen.
Wie die Adaption künstlerischer Methoden etwa des Origami, der japanischen Papierfaltkunst für die Architektur und Technik nutzbar gemacht werden kann, zeigen die Untersuchungen von Faltstrukturen als Konstruktionsprinzip. Geometric Paper Folding: Dr. David Huffman. Nov 1996 David Huffman has been creating some very complex and original folded structures. He works with both straight and curved folds, using mathematical techniques that he has developed over many years. Mr. Huffman teaches at the University of California at Santa Cruz. Here are three examples of his work. The piece above was created by 4 parabolic curved folds that meet in a central square. This "earthquake" pattern consists of many straight folds. Here 4 free hand curves were used to make this unusual surface.
A very simple surface can be made by making two folds in the center, one straight and one curved. These two folds conspire to remove material from the center of the sheet. Dieser konnte im Rahmen der Ausstellung „Carton Plein! “ in der Cité Chaillot (Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, Paris) gezeigt werden.
