1. Ready to Rumble?

Ninety-three of you said you wanted to play with me. I feel like a rock star, or at least like a kid with bag of candy on the playground. LOL! Let's get started. Today's the day. This week's task: Gather Supplies Difficulty Level: 1 Dove Chocolate For this project you will need: 1 bag of Dove Chocolates Basic Sewing Supplies (pins, scissors or rotary cutter, sewing machine, iron, thread, etc.) 1 1/8 yard of cotton quilt-weight fabric (I will be using two different fabrics.

That's it. Some things to consider: If you choose to use two fabrics on your pillowcase, you will need 1 yard of focus fabric and 1 1/8 yard of the coordinating fabric. If your yarn selection is limited, choose your yarn first and match it to a fabric. The fiber content of the yarn can be of your choosing. Crochet stitches you will need to know for this project are chain stitch, single crochet, and double crochet.

On the chocolate front...light or dark, filled or solid, nuts or not...it makes no difference. 2. Posh Pillowcase. Welcome to Week Two of On the Edge...

2. Posh Pillowcase

This weeks task: Construct a Posh Pillowcase Difficulty Level: 2 1/2 chocolates This week we will make our pillowcase. In previous posts, I referred to this pillowcase as a "pillowcase with a flap". What? Instructions for construction of the Posh Pillowcase: Prewash fabric. Eat a chocolate. Match the selvedges (or selvages, whichever you prefer) of your fabric. Cut one of your fabric pieces 20" x 30".

Cut the other piece 20" x 38.5". 3. A Firm Foundation. Welcome to Week Three of On the Edge...

3. A Firm Foundation

This Weeks Task: Create a Firm Foundation Difficulty Level: 3 Chocolates A firm foundation...I'd like to have a firm foundation. I try. I work out for an hour almost everyday. Ok, so I've established that a firm foundation might not be important for me, but it is important for the crochet edging that is going to grace that Posh Pillowcase you stitched up last week. Instructions for a Firm Foundation: Eat a chocolate. Mark every 1/2-inch around the hem of your Posh Pillowcase using a water-soluble marker. Measure a length or yarn that is fifteen times, yes 15, ten and five more times the width of the pillowcase. Thread the needle. Start on the "pocket" edge of your pillowcase. You will have a little hole like this in your pillowcase. Take the threaded needle up into the "pocket". Take a blanket stitch at every 1/2" mark all the way around the pillowcase.

You probably need the other two chocolates about now. Don't forget to take a stitch at each seam. 4. Crochet Like Crazy... Welcome to the final week of On the Edge...

4. Crochet Like Crazy...

This weeks task: Crochet Edging...FINALLY!!! Difficulty Level: 2 Chocolates plus 3 Bonus Chocolates, just for fun It's time for the icing on the cake, the crowning glory, the creme-de-la-creme, the Bomb with a capital B. Get the hook out, ladies. Let's crochet like crazy. To get the party started... Eat a chocolate. Load your hook with a slip knot. Slide your hook under a blanket stitch. Complete a single crochet. Directions for how to start the first single crochet: Slide hook under blanket stitch. In the same manner, work two more single crochets into the same blanket stitch. Stitch three single crochets into each blanket stitch all the way around the pillow case. When you get back to where you started: Don't adjust your monitor. Continue the scallop pattern (sc, skip 2, 5 dc, skip 2) all the way around the pillowcase. When you get back where you started, slip stitch into the first single crochet of the pattern.

You are done! That's all for now.
