Magnetic Energy Directed Into Your Brain Can Reduce Your Religious Beliefs, Say Researchers. Teen Murdered In Church At The Hands Of Home-Schooler Parents And Church Members (VIDEO) Pictured Above: Word Of Life Christian Church. (Photo Via IB Times) Here’s another lesson for humanity that all religion is evil, and Christianity is just as evil as Islam. A teenage boy was fatally beaten by his parents and church members Sunday night after church services ended. He died the next day after “family members” finally took him to the hospital. His younger brother was also severely beaten and hospitalized, but is expected to recover.

The tragedy began as a meeting after a Sunday evening sermon at Word Of Life Christian Church in New Hartford, New York. The chief released this statement about the counseling session that, at some point, became violent: “Both brothers were continually subjected to physical punishment over the course of several hours in the hopes that each would confess to prior sins and ask for forgiveness.” Six people were arrested in connection with the deadly assault. For most of the summer, Kim Davis fought tooth and nail to keep from issuing marriage licenses to LGBT couples. The clerk of Rowan County, Kentucky, even went as far as to refuse to issue any marriage licenses at all for two months.

Well, it looks like Davis has finally realized this is a losing battle — or at least, her attorneys at Liberty Counsel have come to this conclusion. A brief from Davis’ legal team has conceded that marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples out of her office are indeed valid. Mugshot of Kim Davis (Image courtesy Carter County Detention Center via NBC News) When Davis defied an order from federal judge David Bunning to end her charade, Bunning held her in contempt of court and threw her in jail. All but one of her deputy clerks promised to comply with Bunning’s order, and Bunning released Davis after she promised not to interfere with them. That’s quite a sea change from Davis’ past filings. Now Davis has tacitly admitted the licenses are indeed valid.

Police: Girl Dies After Parents Pray for Healing Instead of Seeking Medical Help. An 11-year-old girl died after her parents prayed for healing rather than seek medical help for a treatable form of diabetes, police said Tuesday. Everest Metro Police Chief Dan Vergin said Madeline Neumann died Sunday. "She got sicker and sicker until she was dead," he said. Vergin said an autopsy determined the girl died from diabetic ketoacidosis, an ailment that left her with too little insulin in her body, and she had probably been ill for about 30 days, suffering symptoms like nausea, vomiting, excessive thirst, loss of appetite and weakness.

The girl's parents, Dale and Leilani Neumann, attributed the death to "apparently they didn't have enough faith," the police chief said. They believed the key to healing "was it was better to keep praying. Call more people to help pray," he said. The mother believes the girl could still be resurrected, the police chief said. Telephone messages left at the Neumann home by The Associated Press were not immediately returned. Faith-Healing Parents Jailed After Second Child’s Death. A Pennsylvania mother and father who believe in faith-healing were sent to jail Wednesday for causing the death of their young, sick child by refusing to take him to the doctor. It was the second of Herbert and Catherine Schaible’s children to die under their care. “You’ve killed two of your children…not God, not your church, not religious devotion — you,” Philadelphia Judge Benjamin Lerner told the couple, as he sentenced them to between three and a half and seven years behind bars.

The Schaibles pled no contest to third-degree murder in their eight-month-old son Brandon’s death last year from pneumonia. The Schaibles lost a first child in 2009, a two-year-old who died from pneumonia. They were sentenced to ten years probation for involuntary manslaughter for that death. Part of their probation stated that they must seek medical care if another one of their children became sick. Herbert Schaible told police last year that medicine violates their religious beliefs. Dale and Shannon Hickman receive 6-year sentence, harshest yet for faith-healing church. OREGON CITY – A Clackamas County judge stunned a courtroom packed with supporters of Dale and Shannon Hickman Monday when he sentenced the couple, members of an Oregon City faith-healing church, to prison for six years and three months. The Hickmans received the mandatory minimum prison term under Measure 11 sentencing guidelines, even though defense attorneys argued that their clients qualified for little or no prison time.

Once released, they will be on post-prison supervision for three years. "This is a sentence you have justly earned," said Presiding Judge Robert D. Herndon. He called incarceration "a modest penalty for causing the death of a vulnerable person. ... This was so preventable. " After Herndon left the courtroom, about 100 church members remained, sullen and many sobbing, as deputies handcuffed the Hickmans and led them away.

Pediatric experts testified that the baby almost certainly would have survived if he had been taken to a hospital. Previous cases -- Steve Mayes. Fallen followers: Investigation finds 10 more dead children of faith healers | KATU Investigators. BOISE, Idaho – Peaceful Valley Cemetery sits on a windswept hill 30 miles east of Boise. Some of The Followers of Christ faith healers bury their dead there. The same last names appear over and again, going back decades. Some - like Beagley - are the same names you’ll see in a similar cemetery in Oregon City. In 2010, jurors in Clackamas County convicted Jeff and Marci Beagley of letting their son Neal die of an untreated urinary tract infection. KATU’s Dan Tilkin covered that story, as he has so many faith-healing stories.

That’s why he traveled to Idaho to trace the connections between Followers members in both states, and a new trail of dead children. A former member of the Followers of Christ advised him to go to Peaceful Valley and look for two specific names. He found them. Garrett Dean Eells. The coroner’s report says Garrett was a 6-day-old baby who died of interstitial pneumonitis. Jackson Scott Porter. Jackson was a baby girl. “That's the way we believe,” he said. That was that. Oregon couple who chose prayer over doctors will go to prison for child’s death. Dale and Shannon Hickman don’t believe in doctors. Because of this religious conviction, set forth by the cult the couple belongs to, Oregon City’s Followers of Christ Church, the Hickmans let their premature infant die after being being born at home rather than seek medical help.

As a result of this decision, the couple was convicted of manslaughter in 2011. The child, named David Hickman, weighed just 3 lbs, 7 ounces at birth. His tragically short life was only 9 hours long. According to reports, the Hickmans went to Shannon’s mother for help when she began having contractions more than two months prior to her due date.

Both halves of the Hickman couple will spend a minimum of 6 years and 3 months in prison for their actions, which is light, considering the fact that their child lost his life over their idiotic beliefs. Apparently, this cult is not just in one small congregation in Oregon, either. “The inquiry was not whether defendants’ religiously motivated conduct was reasonable. Christians Beat Son To Death In Church While Trying To Make Him ‘Confess’ To His ‘Sins’ Two New York parents are accused of literally trying to beat the word of God into their two sons. Unfortunately, in the case of one of the young men, the violence-based testimony worked too well, and one of Deborah and Bruce Leonard’s children got to meet Jesus well before his time.

According to New Hartford police, the parents and other adult members of the congregation had been trying to force the Leonards’ 19 and 17-year-old sons to confess their sins and beg God for forgiveness when the beatings became too much for their offspring. “Both brothers were subjected to physical punishment over the course of several hours, in hopes that each would confess to prior sins and ask for forgiveness,” Police Chief Michael Inserra explained.

The nature of the “sins” the Leonards were hoping to beat out of their children is unclear, but Inserra says that more arrests are expected. 19-year-old Lucas Leonard died Monday after he was dropped off by family members at Mohawk Valley Health System’s St. Why are some Christians so hung up on same-sex marriage? Kim Davis is flanked by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) and attorney Mat Staver in a rally on her behalf in Grayson, Kentucky on Sept. 8, 2015. [Right Wing Watch] The Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage drew such a strong reaction from every side that it seemed to reflect that Americans live in a country riven by irreconcilable theological values. In arguing for the majority, Justice Anthony Kennedy contended that same-sex marriage was in harmony with the highest ideals of religion: love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, family and dignity.

To the court’s detractors, however, the ruling turned Bible teachings on their head. “Today the Court is wrong again,” the US Conference of Catholic Bishops stated. Pockets of resistance have kept the issue in the news. This is not simply another political debate over what policies are best suited for Americans. Hell, as we currently understand it, is the product of several snowballing misconceptions and irresponsibly translated scriptures.

Many Christians believe that the God of the Bible invented or designed Hell. However, a careful study of history and mythology reveals that God did not invent an eternal torture chamber called hell, nor would a loving Creator support such a doctrine. We also see that there is no scriptural or spiritual support for hell when we interpret the Bible in its historical context. According to orthodox rabbinical tradition, the Torah (or Jewish Law) was given to Moses in around 1300 BC. The printing press had not yet been invented, so copies of the actual book were rare. More About Hell: 1. Retired priest: ‘Hell’ was invented by the church to control people with fear. This video is of an interview retired Episcopal bishop John Shelby Spong did with Keith Morrison of Dateline NBC back in August of 2006. Spong: I don’t think Hell exists.

I happen to believe in life after death, but I don’t think it’s got a thing to do with reward and punishment. Religion is always in the control business, and that’s something people don’t really understand. It’s in a guilt-producing control business. And if you have Heaven as a place where you’re rewarded for you goodness, and Hell is a place where you’re punished for your evil, then you sort of have control of the population. And so they create this fiery place which has quite literally scared the Hell out of a lot of people, throughout Christian history.

And it’s part of a control tactic. Morrison: But wait a minute. Spong: I think the church fired its furnaces hotter than anybody else. Spong: Yeah, I grew up in that tradition. I mean, God is not a Christian. Lonely anti-Muslim protester greeted lovingly with hugs and invitation to learn about Islam — and she does. An Ohio woman who was the only one to show up at a local mosque to protest against the Islamic faith was greeted by counter-protesters and members of the mosque who gave her hugs and extended an invitation to enter to learn more about Islam — which she accepted The woman — identified as Annie on Facebook –showed up Saturday at the Noor Islamic Cultural Center In Dublin, Ohio, on the day of the misleadingly named Global Rally for Humanity — a nationwide protest against Muslims in the U.S. Carrying multiple signs –including one stating ‘No Sharia law”– Annie was met by multiple counter-protesters who engaged her in a lively, but mostly friendly, debate about Islam, the Koran and President Obama, whom she claimed was a Muslim.

Confronted by a Muslim woman wearing a hijab who offered to pose with her for a photo by saying,”I’m an American too,” Annie accepted an invitation to enter the mosque and meet with the members who applauded her as she entered the foyer. Wheaton College, an evangelical Christian college in Illinois, announced last week that it was dropping health insurance for all its students rather than comply with Obamacare’s contraception mandate. Under the compromise offered by the Obama administration, religious employers that object to birth control can notify their insurer, who then provides it to covered individuals without involving the employer, but Wheaton argued that even having to state their objection was an intolerable violation of their religious conscience - a claim that would undoubtedly lead to chaos if it were widely accepted.
