Free leggings pattern « FabriCate & Mira. In the N. Hemisphere it’s winter and that means it’s time for females to cover their legs. Well, maybe not all females; even in the depths of winter we all see young women and teens with bare legs but not me. So I say it’s time for leggings; a fast sewing, get results in minutes item for the winter, mostly for my granddaughters but also for my daughters. I’m talking about the footless “tights alternative” as opposed to the ever popular leggings which are more of a “pants alternative”. My 2 GD’s absolutely love the leggings I make for them. Materials: Length of 2-way or 4-way stretch knit fabric. Notes: The pattern is a size 2-4. To make a size larger such as a size 4-5, make the same split down the center of the pattern piece and add as much length as you need. Bun Warmer, Heinie Heater, Hip Cozy…whatever you call it, it works like a charm.

This is a fast and easy way to repurpose an old sweater and stay warm this winter. I designed it to be worn over jeans, low-rise or otherwise, plus I added a kangaroo pocket in the front for easy hand warming! This weekend Taylor, Sym and I DIYed some space shirts! We started with plain black organic cotton t-shirts from American Apparel, in small (for Sym), medium (for me) and large (for Taylor). Sym probably would have been better with an extra small but they didn’t have any in the store but if you buy 3 of the same style you get 15% off. Gotta save that nine dollars! First we brushed and dripped bleach on them. Next they went into a dye bath of wine red dye. After the dyeing we bleach them a second time- Taylor brushed his again while I went with a straight drip-and-splatter approach. For the next step I mixed up four batches of dye- scarlet, wine red, royal blue and a purple I cobbled together from the wine red and blue.

After the final rinse we left them to dry overnight and then this morning it was time to add some stars! And the finished product!
