See You All Next Week

The Kgalagadi is a truly magical wildlife photographic destination and apart from being out in the field one of the great things is that there is virtually no cellular signal. Hey, I love being connected but I love unplugging from time to time. So, until I’m back in the office on Monday 19 March 2012 here are a few images from our previous Kgalagadi trip. Amazing place with beautiful light, unique landscapes and some of the best large cat sightings you could hope for.

Hope you all have a good week and I’ll catch you in the flip side. Ever had 'One of those Days?' Kyle Patterson: Mothers new puppy #wildlif... Just chillin' Photography Competition. Announcement of Final Winners!

Innate Beauty of Majestic Wildlife Creatures. Photographer Marina Cano has fallen in love with the beauty of nature and its creatures.

Innate Beauty of Majestic Wildlife Creatures

The wildlife photographer, who is based in Cantabria, located in the North of Spain, has devoted three years of her life to a passion project that exposes the scenic and spiritual appeal of this world's natural environments. In her book Cabárceno, titled after the largest natural wildlife park in Europe, Cano captures stunning images of animals in their natural habitat. The innate beauty of these majestic creatures is revealed through Cano's touching and intimate portraits. It becomes apparent through her portfolio of work that there are a multitude of similarities between mankind and these "beasts" that we take for granted.

Especially heartwarming are the photos that show a parent protecting its young, of which there are many. Marina Cano website via [Photography Office] Am. I love the look of the landscape of the Lowcountry coastal tidal islands, but my camera always turns to the birds that populate that landscape.

Warning. Orangu-tongue. Identity crisis. A Photojourney to Besalu, Catalonia. You may not have heard of Besalú. I hadn’t until a few weeks ago. It’s a small town located in the northern region of Catalonia with just over 2300 inhabitants. What it lacks in size it makes up for in history with a town market dating back to the year 1027 and a ritual Jewish bath dating back to the 12th century. I thoroughly enjoyed my day in Besalú strolling through this small medieval town, along small maze-like passage ways, making several stops for a cappuccino along the way. They know how to make a good cappuccino here! Wandering the streets of Besalu. My favorite way to experience Besalú was just wandering. Passage ways dating back to medieval times, made me feel like I was stepping back in time.

It was one of these such passage ways, that led to an AMAZING cafe, 10 del Pont , a stone walled cafe with an assortment of teas and the best caramels I have ever tasted. One of the most charming cafes I have ever been in - anywhere! The cathedral in Besalu is in the town square. Washington Monument. How to take great wildlife pictures

Whatever the case, capturing the Big Five in South Africa, orangutans in Southeast Asia or Emperor Penguins in Antarctica requires a lot of patience, and much luck. The trouble is, you never quite know what’s going to happen next - but that’s what makes it so exciting, too. The following tips will help you get the best wildlife shots out of your trip by being prepared...well as prepared as you can be. Get the right gear One great step in achieving that great image is having the right gear for the purpose. Pick the right camera While digital SLRs are recommended with a lens focal length of 300-400mm, you can get away with a decent compact that has a good zoom lens, at least up to 10x.
