Appropriately, since it's a sweater covered in clouds! You'll need a cardigan or sweater, felt, scissors, embroidery thread, embroidery needles (they've got a bigger eye), and some kind of stencil (optional). 1. So first, if you're using a stencil, cut that thing out! You can make any shape you want. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. POW. We Can Re-Do It: Upcycled Sweater Slippers. So I decided to commemorate the LONGEST winter I can remember by making myself some striped slippers from an old, holey sweater. We're fortunate that our apartment is usually pretty toasty and warm, but this year even the biggest of my bulky socks aren't cutting it.

Srsly, why is so damn cold? Materials: -old sweater -2 pieces of 12"X 8" felt (maybe larger if you have a really big foot) Creating The FootbedStep 1: Trace your foot onto a manilla folder. When you're done you'll have 4 foot shaped pieces of felt: Step 4: Now place the foot pattern onto the sweater with the heel 1 1/4 - 1 1/2" away from the bottom edge of the sweater.

Step 6: Use double stick tape to stick to stick the felt piece onto the sweater. Step 7: Then repeat on the back side. Sewing on to Dance Tights (Thigh High Boot Covers) in Patterns & Tutorials Forum. #ThrowbackThursday for the week of 2/20/14 The long awaited tutorial! After asking around, and finding very little online in the way of an actual how-to (most of results were things like "Um, yeah, I think you can") I've put together a tutorial which I hope will help those people trying to figure out how to keep that seamless look along the legs, because I know I HATE hiking up my thigh-hi boots every 5 minutes. Please excuse the craptacular photography. It was hard to remember to take pics at all, but I wanted to try and get it down for people, since so many asked top keep them updated.

I did this when putting together my Zatanna costume this year for HeroesCon. As you can see, she has thigh-hi boots that cut up at an angle. I created what essentially was a big tube sock, with the features that I wanted (color-blocked top, angle, etc). Now, pull on a pair of dance tights. Now take the hose/sock construction off CAREFULLY. (did I mention the craptacular pics yet? Arrow Belt D.I.Y. I love accessories, especially when it's a special piece that no one else has! Today I'm going to teach you to make a super unique belt! This adorable arrow belt is the perfect accent for a simple dress or top. Here's how I made my belt... 1.) Back in February I made a DIY beach cover up that has had a crazy popular response. I've been meaning to make a no-sew version, but I haven't been able to.

A lot of people have criticized my dark brown color choice for the original post, but in the winter there weren't tons of bright colored jersey fabrics being sold in stores. I went again this past weekend and *still* couldn't find a good shade to use for this no-sew version. The second way involves a pareo (I got mine at amazon.com for $6/each. 1.75 yards of jersey or stretchy cotton material* Ribbon/any other material for a strap Scissors (1) Cut it.

That was the longest post. The Forge: {she made it} jersey weave sweatshirt. Did you all have a good weekend? We pretty much got snowed in so during nap time I thought i'd scratch this little diy off my to-do list... This was the inspiration for this diy. i've had it pinned on pinterest for an eternity. so when I came across $3 sweatshirts at wal-mart the other day i felt like it was just meant to be. i resisted grabbing more than two (i am so bad when it comes to good deals) brought them home and gave them both a good wash and dry. the other one is white and i already have something in mind for it... like it?

Would love it if you pinned it :) For more fashion DIY posts simply click HERE. Di. Yesterday i went up to salt lake to the ABC channel 4 studios and filmed a live segment for the Good Things Utah show. first time ever on tv and let me tell you it was totally cool! (but it still stressed me out...) i went into the green room to wait until it was time for me to set up. there on the wall was the 10 foot poster with the Lost cast. i set up a table with beautiful wool beads and little dishes of supplies with all the steps ready to show the felt bead rings from my book. i had only just got a mike on and stepped behind the table when the camera man said '10 seconds and you're live' i thought ok, here it goes. i decided to post a tutorial here so you can make one of the felt bon bon rings from the show for yourself. lay your circle template over the wool bead to choose the size then trace the circle onto the back of a piece of felt with a pencil or a water soluable marker.

(mark be gone is a good one) with a couple of flowers tied to the top it makes a lovely gift. enjoy, julie. DIY Chanel Pearl Hairpins. This week’s DIY, requested by a reader, was inspired by the abundant and delightful use of pearls in Chanel‘s Spring 2012 Collection. Though I’m usually not the biggest fan of pearls, I actually fell in love with the way Karl affixed them along the back of necks and pushed oversized ones into loose updos. His modern interpretation of the underwater gem just goes to show that pearls can be worn any day, at any age! With a few easy steps, you’ll be able to whip up a handful of pearl hairpins as fast as you can say “Sally sold seashells by the seashore” 10 times. Backwards. You’ll need:8mm – 12mm half drilled crystal ‘faux’ pearls20 – 22 gauge wirebobby pinswire cutterflat nose plierssuper glue Start by cutting off a 5 inch piece of wire.

Fold the wire in half. Put a few drops of super glue onto the tip of the folded part and insert it into the pearl. Allow it to dry completely. Continue to wrap tightly 5-6 times. Snip the wires and reinforce it with a few drops of super glue. DIY Sequined Heart Hairbow. Kelly LanzaStudio DIY It’s time to get you prepped and ready for Valentine’s Day! And the only way to do that? Sequin heart bows! No matter who you’re saying “I love you” to on this adorable holiday, sequins should definitely be involved. Craft up one of these inexpensive bows for you, or your kiddo, and spread the love! Supplies: Felt Sequin Trim Strong Fabric-Safe Glue (I used E-6000, my fave!)

Cut out three pieces of felt: One heart, one 12″ by 2.5″ rectangle and one 4″ by 1″ rectangle. Spread a bit of glue on the point of your heart and attach the end of your sequin trim. Begin to weave the sequin trim back and forth in lines, adding glue line by line as you go. Keep going until you have covered the entire heart. You’re likely to have a few spots where you can see the felt popping through around the edges. Now you have a perfect sequin heart! Pick up your larger felt rectangle and make it a into a loop by hot gluing the short ends together.

It was “in” last summer but we see it coming back this spring. The kimono. It’s a kimono-cape version and I’m sure you will not want to take it off this spring. Materials: 1 large square scarf or 2 small. Process: 1. 2. 3. . * From here on follow the steps if you are just using one big scarf. 4.

Until the next post DIY’ers! Pineapple Costume for Halloween. Here we have it folks, the final DIY costume of the 2013 season. And, yep, I’m going out with a classic Studio DIY fave… a pineapple! You may not think it, but this is the PERFECT last minute costume that is easy to make, and brings a whole lot of impact! If you can find yourself some green poster board and a toilet paper roll, you’re all set! I’m pretty obsessed with how this turned out, if I do say so myself, kinda wishing I could wear it every day… …perhaps I should replace my typical bows with pineapple toppers!?

Green Poster Board (You can usually find this in the multi-color packs at office supply stores.) Cut out all your leaves from your green poster board (one large sheet was all I needed). Now move to your second largest leaves. Repeat this process, using consecutively smaller leaves and working your way down the cardboard tube until you reach the bottom. Pair with anything yellow you own or can find, and you have a costume, my friends! All Photos by Studio DIY. DOUBLE-BREASTED WAISTCOAT.
