Carte DroFly Pro de Drotek : Les cartes Multirotor. Transhumanisme: vers une humanité 2.0? Rating your professor: five myths about university teaching quality. Prospective students, parents of prospective students, and taxpayers deserve to know about the quality of teaching in our universities. But how do you measure teaching quality? Based on student results? But results depend on the cohort and how hard the subject is, so that’s hardly fair. One measure that does exist is student feedback, but the relevance of the data is often hotly debated.

A recent article in The Conversation argued that students don’t know what teaching is good for them and questioned whether such surveys should be conducted at all. While I agree that student evaluations should be used and interpreted with caution, I firmly believe that universities are best served by collecting feedback from students and making it as freely available as possible. Click to enlarge The data could help us to recognise and reward good teaching in the same way we reward research. Myth 1: University teaching is poor overall were you satisfied with the quality of the course? Marc My Words: Learning Technology—Proceed with Caution by Marc Rosenberg. “Nineteenth century American author Henry David Thoreau once said, ‘Men have become the tools of their tools.’ Take this to heart: You must manage your technology well, or else it will manage you.” Reading this, you probably have a passing interest in learning technology.

You likely find it valuable, perhaps revolutionary. But it’s apt to have disappointed or frustrated you once or twice as well. You want to do more, but you also want to up the odds that it’s more of the first and less of the latter. Learning technology can keep everyone informed. It extends reach and access. The problem with learning technology is not the technology itself, but how well it’s used. 1. Do you have a sound training, learning, and performance strategy for your organization? 2. If you think great technology turns bad eLearning into great eLearning, you are likely to be very disappointed. 3.

Just because it tastes good doesn’t mean it’s good for you. 12+ Books for Instructional Designers | Experiencing E-Learning. Do you Know about These 7 Learning Zones in Your Class? What Is Agile Learning Design? If you’re in the learning design business, then you’ve probably come across the term “Agile” recently. You also might have heard terms that sound like a different language, like Kanban or Scrum. All this new terminology can get confusing, so that’s why we’re going to try and make sense of it. For almost 40 years the ADDIE model has reigned as king—the unquestionable framework for learning and development professionals. Now that has finally begun to change. Agile is a fresh approach to learning design that takes the ADDIE model to a new level. It All Started With a Problem Agile started as a software development process. The problem is that this method is extremely impractical for software development. The Manifesto for Agile Software Development By the mid-90s, software developers had had enough, and they came up with their own ways of doing things.

It defined the Agile development process as an iterative method based on collaboration. So What Does This Mean for Me? What is an International University? Over the past few years a series of buzzwords – global citizenship, comprehensive internationalisation and world-class university – have taken over discussions about international higher education. As I wrote in 2011 in a University World News blog Naming internationalisation will not revive it, behind many of these buzzwords there appears to be an underlying desire to broaden and deepen the notion of internationalisation, but their effect might have the opposite impact, meaning we go on with business as usual.

Books, articles and papers have been written about these buzzwords; they are referred to in global, regional and national rankings, and you find them in mission statements and policy documents all over the world. Yet the exact meaning of these terms is unclear and they are only perceptions and interpretations, not commonly acknowledged indicators or defined concepts. ‘International University’ seems to be the new fashionable term in this category. Have you ever looked back at old photos of yourself and thought, “what the heck was I thinking?” You might have had similar reactions while looking back at older graphics on the web. You know the type, those sites with wacky colors, ugly icons, multiple graphical trends and too many typefaces. Before we get started, lets do some housekeeping. It is wise to make sure you have a desirable place to work, clean and free from clutter that may distract from your tasks. Make sure to rest here and there versus killing yourself until the day is done. Now that you’re somewhat rested, your place is neat, tidy and set up to your own standards of design, lets forget about the past and dive into the present/future of design and clean up with these eight design tips. 1.

One of the best ways for your design to stand out is by utilizing colors that contrast well. 2. One way to create visual symmetry is by adding a line or embellishment to your design. 3. 4. Keep things easy, fresh, and to the point. 5. Pedagogical Theory for e-Learning Design: From Ideals to Reality. Cranium Cafe: Bringing Face-to-Face Interactions to Online Education. In recent times, a cocktail of competition among education institutions and the race to find cost-effective ways to deliver knowledge to the masses have led to many innovative technologies and programs. However, with the number of students dropping out of courses midway, Cranium Cafe, a Salt Lake City based company, has created a flexible solution that is lifting industry standards for online and distance education. "It's astounding how many students feel isolated,” and that isolation is often made worse with online education," remarks Tracy Gorham, Cranium Cafe CEO & founder.

"Students want help, they want to feel connected and supported. " This support can now be provided using Cranium Cafe — an online platform that allows students to easily meet face-to-face and collaborate on assignments and course materials. Similar platforms available in the market have their limitations with cumbersome setup and security threats. The merits of Cranium Cafe are also seen by instructors.
