Depuis le 1 er septembre 2006, le serveur de noms de domaines [DNS, qui fait le lien entre les adresses IP numériques des ordinateurs connectés à Internet et les adresses des sites écrites en lettres] chinois ne passe plus par l' Icann , l'organisme international qui gère les noms de domaines (les adresses de sites) de l'Internet. C'est ce que rappelait récemment la société européenne de l'Internet : "Depuis le 1 er mars 2006, la Chine applique une réforme de son système de gestion des DNS. L'objectif officiel déclaré est de permettre aux Chinois d'accéder à Internet en composant les adresses de sites avec des idéogrammes, une solution confortable pour les internautes de l'empire du Milieu... [Tout donne à penser] que la Chine a décidé de lancer un nouveau suffixe national pour s' affranchir définitivement de la gestion des noms de domaine Internet par l' Icann et, plus avant, de l'emprise du gouvernement américain.

J’avais réalisé en écrivant le Livre des violences que le calcul moral qui est à la fois son résultat et son cœur ne suffisait pas pour informer les gens de ce qu’ils devaient faire, ou ne pas faire, dans tel ou tel contexte ; ni pour comprendre si leur action ou celle de leur ennemi était partiellement ou intégralement justifiée ou injustifiée dans tel ou tel contexte, et que les cas très complexes du monde réel devaient être débattus et comparés en toute bonne foi. En travaillant sur Central Europe , j’ai découvert que dans un nombre immense de situations, il était impossible de faire le bon choix, même si ça ne dispense pas les individus d’essayer de bien agir.
