Over the course of my editorial career, I had the pleasure to work with photo journalist Marissa Roth on several occasions, primarily in accessing photographs from her book “Real City: Downtown Los Angeles Inside/Out” on Angel City Press . Her documentary work has taken her far beyond her California roots, however, from Kosovo to Pakistan. Roth was part of The Los Angeles Times Pulitzer Prize winning photography staff covering the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

Jacob Holdt - Faith, Love and Hope
Le teasing aura été plus long que prévu et je m'en excuse ! L'enchaînement de deux concours et un nouveau job ont eu raison de mon agenda et du temps que j'aurais souhaité consacrer à mon blog. Mais tout vient à point à qui sait attendre et je vous livre enfin le billet tant promis consacré au photographe Jacob Holdt , découvert au hasard d'un week-end à Copenhague. Petit flashback : nous sommes le 17 janvier et à vue de nez (gelé), il fait aux environs de -5° dans la capitale danoise. Les quelques jours passés à arpenter les rues, les musées et les restos de la ville ont été bien remplis, et j'ai déjà eu l'occasion de balader mon objectif un peu partout (les photos sont visibles ici ). Partir en excursion encore un peu plus au Nord ne m'effraie plus vraiment et j'enfile une 3ème paire de collants, superposée aux 2 autres.

This particular painting pays homage to a poem by William Carlos Williams: In 1909, Marsden Hartley was introduced to Alfred Stieglitz, a meeting that would place him firmly within the progressive art circles of the time.Photojournalisme

Human landscapes in SW Florida - The Big Picture - Boston.com
A couple weeks ago, I was listening to a story by NPR's Planet Money team about "Toxie" a toxic asset they had purchased to follow and help tell the story of the recent financial meltdown. One of the mortgages in Toxie was on a home bought for investment in Bradenton, Florida, and the team took a look at housing in the area. Many homes there are empty and have been for years. Huge developments sit partially completed among densely built up neighborhoods and swampland. A guest stated that there were "enough housing lots in Charlotte County to last for more than 100 years".
