We miss Mexican food here in Paris since it isn’t as readily available as back home so we started having Taco Tuesdays where my friend Rubi makes amazing homemade tacos. Last night we got together and I made everyone their own personalized mini piñatas. There was one at each person’s plate filled with treats and surprises. Materials Needed: Cereal boxes, scissors, exacto knife, crepe paper in folds, tape, glue Step One: Draw a picture of the donkey on a cereal box and cut it out with scissors.
Step Two: Once your armature is built its time to decorate. Step Three: When you are done cut a trap door at the bottom to fill with treats like small candies, gifts, party poppers, and confetti. I loved making these! You can find the other piñatas in my piñata series right here. All photos by Oh Happy Day Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time. DIY TOUCH UPS FOR THE PETITE CLUTCH. Photos + post by amy nadine, graphic design by eunice chun This little lifesaver is the brainchild of my lovely {and clever} client Emmy Rossum!
Last Saturday I had the pleasure of doing her makeup for her Shameless panel at Comic Con, but I did it at 6:30am here in LA for her to leave at 8 and drive two hours to San Diego and attend the event until 5pm, without me there to help her with touch ups. Of course lipstick and blotting papers fit in her clutch, but not her foundation bottle or cream eye shadow. As I was trying to find a way to make it work, Emmy said “hold on!” And calmly found a contact lens storage case in her drawer. TOOLS: Your favorite clutch, a contact lens case, foundation or concealer, a cream blush or cream eyeshadow {whichever is more important for you to touch up} and a spatula You can literally do this with anything that you want to bring with you as long as the product is finger friendly.

A few weeks ago I shared a pic of some butterfly punch-outs I had done from a Pottery Barn catalog (it was a really colorful picture of some towels all stacked together).
I had seen a picture that Ali Edwards made of butterflies all lined up and punched from many different colors of paper (which gave me some serious inspiration in the butterfly department). I decided that I wanted to do something similar but with a different spin! I started working on this little project Saturday afternoon. I seem to have loads ideas that do not always turn out as I had envisioned them... so I figured I had better test carefully to make sure this was going to work out!
In my day job I get a lot of really fine paper samples in the mail. Cougar paper had sent me sample called Ode to the Earth. I knew this was just the project for it! DIY Photo Light Box // Take Better Photos! One thing I've learned during my blogging adventures: You eat with your eyes first!
Photography is everything when trying to capture a tutorial for your readers, or make your products look desirable on Etsy.com. And what's the most important part? Lighting! Follow this little tutorial to make your own Photo Light Box for the perfect lighting. Cut a border of 2 inches on each side of the tri-fold display board (the two sides and the back).
Use a ruler and an exacto knife to make straight edges. Use masking tape to attach the two pieces to form a box. Finally, cover the two sides and the back with white muslin fabric, attaching it with masking tape. Ta-Dah! DIY T-Shirt Quilt. Before I explain this project, I need to set two things straight. First off-- I'm a sentimental hoarder. If a fond memory is even remotely related to an inanimate object, I keep it. For example, I have almost every ticket from any movie I've ever seen, I have a serious problem with getting rid of stuffed animals, and I have a knickknack box full of dumb things like a dried clover flower that my friend threw at me while we were lying in a cornfield, bored, waiting for a cross country race to end. (I also have a craft supply hoarding problem, but that's a different story.) The second thing I need to get straight is that I've always been a joiner.
My mom made me this blanket as a high school graduation present, and it is still one of the coolest things she's made me. That’s it! Do you like receiving hand-made gifts? Lump of Coal Gift Box (with a Secret) Rock Crafts. Sock Monkey. Gosh… I am supposed to sew some thing for the Earth Month this April, but I can’t wait to sew these sock monkeys. My hands simply took over my head and see what I did after a few days and nights of sewing…. a house full of sock monkeys!!!! Do you love them? I have seen a lot of sock monkey photos hanging around friends’ photo albums in many photo sharing websites, so envy. These sock monkeys are so cute and so adorable that I would want to hug one, I bet my kids would love to have them to accompany too when mommy is busy with works.
Therefore, I went out to shop for some socks thinking that may be 4 to 5 pairs should be enough, I ended up with 20 pairs of colorful socks, simply can’t resist for not buying ;-) . …. With different sizes of socks, I made the sock monkey out of a family, from baby, toddlers, teens to adult. 3rd picture in the above album shows the family photo of the sock monkey, from daddy, mommy, sister, brother, triplet toddlers, and a baby. Pages: 1 2. Modern Parents Messy Kids: Handmade Halloween: Make Spider Sack Decor with the Kids. I’m so excited about this Halloween project, it turned out even better than I’d envisioned. It’s the quintessential MPMK project – easy enough for kids of all ages to get in on the action and the finished product is a decidedly stylish take on traditional Halloween decor. And did I mention how inexpensive it is?
The basic materials include a pack of water balloons ($1.99), yarn ($3.79), and standard craft glue (already had it but glue should be on back-to-school sale right now). That’s it for the essentials. To really get the full effect, it’s nice to add a few plastic spiders which are on sale pretty much everywhere. To make the sacks, I simply adapted this yarn ball tutorial. Next, approximate how much yarn you’ll need to cover your balloon and wrap it around you hand to create a loop (this helps prevent tangles). Then dunk it.
Now comes the really hard part, blowing up the water balloons. You probably think I’m exaggerating – I’m not! Now comes the second hardest part, waiting around. Preserve Vacation Memories in Shadow Boxes. Why hide mementos between the pages of a scrapbook when you can exhibit them as art? Collect souvenir trinkets, seashells, rocks, postcards, or leaves while on holiday, and then use them to create a three-dimensional display that you can enjoy every day. The best approach to making a shadow box is to view the world as a child would. Pick up a shiny pebble that catches your eye. Save that concert- or train-ticket stub. If you like the way a foreign coin looks, slip it into your pocket, and keep it for your shadow box. Even a road map, a book of matches, or a subway token will do.
A shadow box can present items that you've collected during a trip abroad or those you've discovered while walking along a beach or hiking a challenging woodland trail. To begin, you'll need a shadow box. No-Glue Scrapbook. Accordion-Style Travelogue. Map Memory Board. Labeled Photo Frames. Ask Martha: Craft Materials and Techniques - Martha Stewart.
