Greenland Temperature Data For 2018. By Paul Homewood Greenland yemps The DMI has just published its Greenland Climate Data Collection for last year, and it is worth looking at the temperature data: There are six stations with long records, Upernavik, Nuuk, Ilulissat, Qaqortoq, Narsarsuaq and Tasilaq. Throughout Greenland we find that temperatures in the last two decades are little different to the 1920s to 60s. The only exceptions were 2010 on the west coast sites, which was an unusually warm year, and 2016 on the east coast at Tasilaq, another warm year there. Noticeably, last year was actually colder than the 1981-2010 average at all of the west and south coast stations. It is also noticeable that temperatures during the very cold interval at all sites during the 1970s and 80s were comparable to the late 19thC, when Greenland beginning to struggle out of the Little Ice Age.
Be very wary when ever anybody tells you how much Greenland has warmed in the last thirty years. Like this: Like Loading... Central Europe’s Warming Since 1990 Coincides With Instrumentation, Solar And Precipitation Changes, Not CO2. On Sunday I wrote here how any warmth that gets found anywhere on the globe almost always gets blamed on heat supposedly getting trapped by rising atmospheric CO2 concentrations (due to man). Of course here all other powerful, real factors such as solar and oceanic cycles get ignored. Yet in the case of Japan, we see that it’s recent temperature increase happens to coincide with more solar radiation reaching the surface. All of Germany’s temperature rise came in just 2 years And not surprisingly, the same turns out to be true for Central Europe – particularly Germany. Germany’s DWD national weather office has been keeping records since 1881, and what follows is a chart of Germany’s mean annual temperature anomaly for the period: Germany mean annual temperature anomaly since 1881.
The question is: Why have temperatures gone up? Hot electronic thermometers? That alone could already explain the entire difference happening at about 1990. More sunshine across Germany CO2 not the driver. One Country Which Actually Is Warming. Germany is a little larger than Missouri and Arkansas combined, and has a fairly coherent long term temperature record at 13 stations. There has been a warming trend in Germany since 1980.
This can’t be explained by UHI, HOHENPEISSENBERG is a rural station at 3,100 feet elevation, and MUENCHEN is an urban station at 1,700 feet elevation. Munich is warmer, but the two stations track each other very closely. A typical July afternoon in overheated southern Germany is 71 degrees. These two stations have warmed considerably since 1980, and I don’t see any reason to think the trend isn’t real. No Trend In French Summer Temperatures. The average afternoon summer temperature in France is about the same as 100 years ago, as is the frequency of hot days. This summer has been unusual not because of the number of hot days, but rather a lack of cool days. Very similar to the situation in the US.
The number of stations has increased quite a bit, and the average latitude has moved towards the equator by more than two degrees, which probably accounts for the entire warming trend since 1955. This is the sort of garbage in the GHCN record which makes the global temperature record meaningless. Historical Grape Harvest Dates Show Modern Temperatures No Warmer Now Than Most Of The Last 1,000 Years. Public domain photo. Source here In a late February (2017) interview on a U.S. news program, mechanical engineer Bill Nye claimed that the settled science says humans have been warming the planet at a rate that is unnaturally and “catastrophically” fast since the year 1750 .
“It’s a settled question. The speed that climate change is happening is caused by humans. Instead of climate change happening on timescales of millions of years or 15,000 years, it’s happening on the timescale of decades, and now years. … Humans are causing it [climate change] to happen catastrophically fast. When pressed to identify the signature change affirming this rapid human-caused acceleration, Nye immediately cited viticulture evidence, or grape-growing practices in England and France. “Britain would not be very well suited to growing grapes as it is today [if not for human activity]. Apparently Bill Nye believes it is quite unusual to grow grapes in England.
Easterbrook, 2011 Pfister, 1988 Chuine et al., 2004. Swedish Researchers Confirm 20th Century Warming “Does Not Stand Out” Over Past 2500 Years! By P Gosselin on 13. June 2018 A very recent study by Swedish scientists appearing in the journal Climate of the Past examining bottom water temperature (BWT) off the coast of Western Sweden (Gullmar Fjord) going back 2500 years found that “the most recent warming of the 20th century does not stand out.” Team of researchers led by Irina Polovodova Asteman, University of Gotheberg, produced a record of bottom water temperature off the coast of western Sweden and found 20th century warming “does not stand out.”
Photo: ResearchGate, University of Gothenburg The 2500-year winter temperature record was of reconstructed by using a fjord sediment archive from the NE Atlantic and through analysis of oxygen isotopes and other methods. The study was based on an approximately 8-meter long sediment core extracted from the Gullmar Fjord (Sweden).
They found that the Gullmar Fjord d18O record mainly reflects variability of the winter bottom water temperatures with a minor salinity influence. t t. 100-Year Russian Arctic Temperature Reconstruction Shows 1930s Just As Warm As Today!
