A history of Dr. Ben Santer and his IPCC “trick” Guest Opinion: Dr. Tim Ball I will not apologize for my outrage at being lectured to about my moral obligations concerning climate change from the likes of Benjamin Santer, from his position at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Ironically, and sadly, he is right that we need to address climate change, but for the wrong reason. We need to address the questionable science about climate change and global warming he was part of from the start. The arrogance of his remarks in light of his history makes them especially egregious. Here is a comment from his latest arrogant sermon produced in an essay by Eric Worrall titled, “Ben Santer: We Need Understanding, Not Physical walls, to Address Climate Change.
“Today, we are told, Americans need a wall on our southern border. No, that is not what we are told. Surprisingly, the BBC’s Roger Harrabin seems to have been involved in the genesis meeting. He’s targeting kids and Santa Claus at Christmas – Santa’s home is melting. UPDATE48: 9:20 AM PST 11/30 Dr. Phil Jones on the “lack of warming” -he may need a backup plan. Looks like Thanksgiving is early this year. Here’s a feast for kings. /// FOIA 2011 — Background and Context /// “Over 2.5 billion people live on less than $2 a day.””Every day nearly 16.000 children die from hunger and related causes.” “One dollar can save a life” — the opposite must also be true. “Nations must invest $37 trillion in energy technologies by 2030 to stabilize greenhouse gas emissions at sustainable levels.” Today’s decisions should be based on all the information we can get, not on hiding the decline. This archive contains some 5.000 emails picked from keyword searches. Thorne: I also think the science is being manipulated to put a political spin on it which for all our sakes might not be too clever in the long run. Climategate 2.0: Phil Jones and Tom Wigley – calling a scientist “the jerk” over his UHI discoveries in California | Watts Up With That? I’ve not had time to read through all these emails, but this one really, really Stick in my craw. Dr. Phil Jones and Dr. Tom Wigley respond to this graph published in BAMS in 1996: This is from Goodridge 1996 published in BAMS Anyone who has ever met or worked Jim Goodridge would dare not characterize him as a “jerk”, and even if he was, what he published still hold true today.
Even Jones later published studies on UHI in China which agreed with what Goodridge found. The paper is titled: Urbanization effects in large-scale temperature records, with an emphasis on China In it, Jones identifies an urban warming signal in China of 0.1 degrees C per decade. Phil Jones must be the most spiteful and unscientific person ever in the climate debate to say things like this about Jim Goodridge.
