Samen bouwen aan een nieuwe organisatie Filosofie Dick en Emely Axelrod liepen bij het herontwerpen van organisaties aan tegen de beperkingen van de gangbare veranderkundige benaderingen. Zij ontwikkelden als alternatief het ‘Conference Model’ (1992). Het ‘Conference Model’ is qua uitgangspunten sterk gebaseerd op een combinatie van de theorie achter het ontwerpen en implementeren van zelfsturende teams en de grootschalige Future Search methode.
The RSA is the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. Our strapline, 21st century enlightenment, pays tribute to the 18th century founders of the organisation and to the pioneering spirit that inspired them. At the heart of the RSA's contemporary mission and public debates about the future prospects for the human race is the question: 'Can we go on like this?' Will the ideas and values which transformed our world in the last two centuries be sufficient to find solutions to the challenges we now face or do we need new ways of thinking? Bringing great ideas to global audiences , cutting across traditional political battle lines, carrying out cutting-edge research and development projects , undertaking practical innovation itself and by mobilising the talents and commitment of its 27,000 strong Fellowship : in this way the RSA is becoming the kind of organisation this century urgently needs.
Our story starts with a ten year research project conducted by Otto Scharmer and his colleagues, including Joseph Jaworski and Peter Senge, at MIT (1996-2006). A consciousness-based framework of leadership and change resulted from that research. The quality of results that a system creates are a function of the awareness that the people in that system operate from. It is referred to as Presencing or Theory U and has been published in the books Theory U (by Otto Scharmer) and Presence (co-authored by Peter Senge, Otto Scharmer, Jaworski, and Betty Sue Flowers). The second phase started when 20 leaders from around the world met in December of 2006 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. They created a holding space for cultivating presencing as an emerging movement of deep innovation and renewal in organizations, society and self.
Zijn interactieve lezingen en resultaatgerichte workshops worden met enthousiasme ontvangen. In organisaties zet hij aan tot zelfsturing, groeien en leren. Sinds 1995 is hij overtuigd pleitbezorger van de strategische dialoog. Hij legt - geïnspireerd door de Creatiespiraal van Marinus Knoope – in 1998 de basis voor ‘ Ambitiemanagement ’ als methode meer succes te creëren met minder stress. Zowel profit- als not-for-profit organisaties maakt hij vertrouwd met diverse technieken van interactieve besluitvorming en ‘creative problem solving’.
