Meeting @Iconic88: Twitter's Clark Kent - iggypintado's posterou

I'd been intrigued for some time by the musings of someone I follow on Twitter. This person predominantly tweets positive and inspiring messages. A sample of these tweets encourages "Random Acts of Kindness" (#RAOK), promotes concepts such as "unconditional love" and includes the most thought-provoking qoutes from Plato, Gandhi and the Dalai Lama, to name a few. On Twitter, he identifies himself as @iconic88 and is currently visually represented with an avatar of a hand holding up a single ice cream cone. He chooses to stay anonymous - like Superman's Clark Kent.
Like professionals in every field – business, sports, the arts, etc. – I prefer to listen and learn LESS from the commentators and analysts and MORE from the professional practitioners. By professional practitioners, I mean the people who spend their time IN their chosen field by DOING. They're usually "hands-on" and knee-deep in experiential learning through experimenting, testing, monitoring and managing all aspects of their chosen practice. It seems that everywhere you look these days, there’s a s ocial media expert springing up somewhere. On Tuesday, 30 th March at Sydney’s GPO, A List (of) Entrepreneurs is honoured to exclusively present the first public presentation of Twitter’s professional social media professional practitioner, @Iconic88 . http://iggypintado.posterous.com/practical-social-media-the-revelation-of-twit

30 Valuable Lessons Learned Using Social Media for Small Busines

http://www.problogger.net/archives/2010/03/18/30-valuable-lessons-learned-using-social-media-for-small-business/ In a little over a months time I will have owned my business for just about three years. When I began using social media some thirty six months ago, I had no real marketing background experience, and I certainly had never written a blog post , interacted in a forum , or sent a Tweet . My social media evolution began with a simple foray into blogging as a way to try and rank well for some keywords related to my business. From there I expanded to niche forums, review sites, FLICKR, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
http://mark-hayward.com/2009/03/03/measuring-social-media-return-on-investment/ Do you use (or want to use) social media to promote your business but wonder how in the heck you measure its effectiveness to bring in more customers and make more sales? Social Media ROI...Mysterious! Here’s the thing: For both large and small businesses, effective social media measurement starts with well-defined goals and ends with analyzing the impact of your efforts.

Muhammad Saleem is a social media consultant and a top-ranked community member on multiple social news sites. Follow him on Twitter for more social media insights. There is no doubt that Twitter has been a runaway success. Add to their rapid growth the recently announced @anywhere platform, and plans for further international expansion , and it comes as no surprise that the company is not looking to sell — at least within the next 2 years. While the site’s growth has certainly been impressive and it has reached the point of non-displacement, there are some interesting hidden truths about Twitter and its users. http://mashable.com/2010/03/18/twitter-infographic/

The Current State of Twitter [INFOGRAPHIC]

The Hard Way Round

Hi – welcome to our website! Thank you for your interest. This site records the blogs and photos from our two month trip around Australia on dirt bikes in 2008 – unsupported – almost exclusively on dirt roads and 4WD tracks. The trip took 8 weeks and covered 18,000 Kms. There were 3 riders – Dad (Alan) and two sons (Jonny and Ben) and our lack of support meant we had to carry everything ourselves. Our Donations Page is no longer active, but please feel free to donate to the National Breast Cancer Foundation directly at any time – they do great work for an important cause.
