Robert A Heinlein, Breakfast is very important to me, now with that said, I believe that the healthiest breakfast is something, small, easily digestible and highly nutritious. On most days my breakfast consist of a green juice, a shot of barley grass and a fruit. I then usually wait an hour or so and have a smoothie packed with superfoods to fuel my day. This recipe that I am sharing with you is one that I make when I’m a bit more hungry I often eat it on a day when I’ve had a hard workout or plan to be very active. 1 cup of chia soaked in 2 cups of filtered water for at least 1 hour (make sure to stir regularly to keep it form settling on the bottom)1 large banana2-3 dates, pitted1 1/2 teaspoons of cinnamon1/2 teaspoon of Celtic or Himalayan salt4-5 blueberries1/3 of an apple, diced1 tablespoon of bee pollen for topping.

Instead of creating another brownie recipe (for now) I decided to mix things around a bit. In college one of my favorite candy bars was a Snickers bar. I often got one to munch on in the California sunshine as I walked to class. Once I went away to grad school, though, I discovered raw food and dropped the Snickers bar for good! But sweet + tangy makes perfect raw cheesecake heaven. I’ve tried all sorts of raw cheesecake recipes, from banana, orange, lemon and strawberry, to other types of berries, peach, grapes, pear and what not. Now I can honestly say that my favorite raw cheesecake is not only sweet and creamy, but must have a brief sharpness to it.

Fruits like berries, grapes, oranges or plums are at the top of my flavor list for making raw cheesecakes. That’s unless I’m making a raw chocolate cheesecake, but that’s a whole different delicious story. I made this cheesecake yesterday because I was celebrating an extra special occasion. Cool fact. I always wanted to try making my own, [ I have made sour cherry leather before] and having a dehydrator on my hands was definitely a good chance to make it. I decided to go with a pretty simple combination, the most popular smoothie combo : bananas+strawberries! The end result : a sweet, candy like confection that tastes like the popular smoothie! Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed. Its a good snack to munch on!
