Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of French musicians Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo (born February 8, 1974) and Thomas Bangalter (born January 3, 1975). [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 3 ] Daft Punk reached significant popularity in the late 1990s house movement in France and met with continued success in the years following, combining elements of house with synthpop . [ 1 ] [ 2 ] [ 4 ] The duo is also credited with producing songs that are considered essential in the French house scene. They were managed from 1996 to 2008 by Pedro Winter (Busy P), the head of Ed Banger Records . [ 5 ] Early in the group's career, the band members were strongly influenced by groups such as The Beach Boys and The Rolling Stones . Bangalter and de Homem-Christo were originally in a band called Darlin' , which disbanded after a short period of time, leaving the two to experiment musically on their own. The duo became Daft Punk, and released their critically acclaimed debut album Homework in 1997.

Lykke Li ( Swedish pronunciation: [ˈlʏˌkɛ ˈliː] ; born Li Lykke Timotej Svensson Zachrisson ; 18 March 1986), is a Swedish singer-songwriter . Her music often blends elements of pop , indie rock and electronic ; various instruments can also be found in her songs, including violins , synthesizers , tambourines , trumpets , saxophones and cellos . [ 1 ] Her debut album, Youth Novels , was released in 2008. Li Lykke Timotej Zachrisson was born in Ystad , Skåne ; her mother is a photographer and her father, a musician, is a member of Dag Vag . [ 2 ] The family moved to Stockholm when Zachrisson was a toddler and when she was six moved to a mountaintop in Portugal where they lived for five years. The family also spent time in Lisbon and Morocco, and winters in Nepal and India. [ 2 ] [ 3 ] She moved to the neighborhood of Bushwick , Brooklyn in New York for three months when she was 19. He is known mainly for his sample -based electronic music and his liberal political views, including his support of veganism and animal rights . Moby gained attention in the early 1990s with his electronic dance music work, which dabbled in the techno and breakbeat hardcore (also known as "rave") genres. With his fifth studio album, the electronica and house -influenced Play , he gained international success. Originally released in mid-1999 to an unflattering response, it re-entered the charts in early 2000 and slowly became an unexpected hit, producing eight singles and eventually selling over 10 million copies worldwide. Orbital are a British electronic dance music duo from Sevenoaks , England consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll . Their career initially ran from 1989 until 2004, but in 2009 they announced that they would be reforming and headlining The Big Chill , [ 1 ] in addition to a number of other live shows in 2009. [ 2 ] The band's name was taken from Greater London 's orbital motorway , the M25 , which was central to the early rave scene and party network in the South East during the early days of acid house . [ 3 ] One of the biggest names in British electronica during the 1990s, Orbital were both critically and commercially successful, and known particularly for their element of live improvisation during shows, a rarity among techno acts. They were initially influenced by early electro and punk rock .

Pendulum were an Australian - British [ 2 ] drum and bass / rock band founded in 2002 in Perth by Rob Swire , Gareth McGrillen, and Paul Harding. [ 3 ] Swire and McGrillen were members of the metal band known as Xygen. After hearing Konflict 's "Messiah" at a club , they were inspired to enter into the drum and bass genre. [ 4 ] They founded Pendulum with Harding, who was a veteran DJ into the drum and bass scene. In 2003 the band relocated to the United Kingdom. While Hold Your Colour holds true to the drum and bass genre, Pendulum have since experimented with mixing other genres into their work, as can be heard on In Silico and Immersion . Their newer releases incorporate styles from genres such as alternative rock , heavy metal , [ 5 ] dubstep , industrial , hard rock and house music .

The Postal Service is an American electronic musical group composed of vocalist Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie ) and producer Jimmy Tamborello (of Dntel and Headset ). The group formed after Gibbard contributed vocals for a song called " (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan " from Dntel 's album Life Is Full of Possibilities . The song sparked an EP of remixes by other artists, such as Lali Puna , The Flaming Lips , Safety Scissors , Barbara Morgenstern and Superpitcher , and was so well received that the two artists decided that further collaboration was in order.

The Prodigy

The Prodigy are an English electronic dance music group formed by Liam Howlett in 1990 in Braintree , Essex . Along with Fatboy Slim , The Chemical Brothers , and other acts, The Prodigy have been credited as pioneers of the big beat genre, which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s and 2000s. [ 1 ] They have sold over 25 million records worldwide. [ 2 ] The group has won numerous music awards throughout their career, including two Brit Awards —winning Best British Dance Act twice, three MTV Video Music Awards , two Kerrang! Awards , five MTV Europe Music Awards , and have twice been nominated for Grammy Awards . [ 3 ] [ 4 ]

Nick Douwma , better known by his stage name Sub Focus , is an English Electronic Music record producer . He has been releasing records since 2003.
