Producing for PBS. Funding Initiatives. ITVS funds, distributes, and promotes new programs primarily for public television. We work with independent producers to create and present programs that take creative risks, advance issues and represent points of view not usually seen on public or commercial television. ITVS is committed to programming that addresses the needs of underserved and underrepresented audiences. We look for programs that bring new audiences to public television and that expand civic participation by bringing diverse voices into the public sphere. Funding Initiatives You may apply to only one ITVS funding initiative per round. Read the funding descriptions carefully to make sure that you have chosen the initiative that your film is eligible for. We at PBS are committed to reviewing every proposal submitted for our consideration and want to make this process as simple as possible. Please note that PBS is a membership organization that provides national programming, distribution, and technical services to our member stations. We do not produce the programs you see on our air. We can only work with experienced producers who are capable of managing all aspects of a project's development and production. It is also important to note that the PBS schedule is determined 6-12 months in advance, so please keep this in mind when submitting programs that are timely in nature. The Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants program awards relatively small grants to support the planning stages of innovative projects that promise to benefit the humanities. Proposals should be for the planning or initial stages of digital initiatives in any area of the humanities.

Digital Humanities Start-Up Grants may involve Program Statistics In its last five competitions the Digital Humanities Start-up Grants program received an average of 151 applications per competition. The program made an average of 26 awards per competition, for a funding ratio of 17 percent. The number of applications to an NEH grant program can vary widely year to year, as can the funding ratio.
