Peter Dykhuis - Art - Home - Index

Beginning with an analysis of paper maps that frame geo-political world views, then playing with digital satellite and radar representations of weather phenomenon and political boundaries, the most recent projects map territories that are graphically overlaid on top of collaged fields of highly personal envelopes, notes and lists collected by the artist. In all of the work, the authority of maps and authorship of mapmakers is scrutinized including, in the most recent projects, the voice and ‘here’ of the artist when mapping personal connectivity to social, professional, political and economic worlds.
