The multi-year, global touring show is based on WeiWei’s interpretation of the famed 12 zodiac heads designed by European Jesuits in 18th century Qing Dynasty Emperor Qianlong’s court. Following attacks by foreign entities in 1860, the zodiac heads originally seen in the gardens of Yuanming Yuan were stolen.
