Just 30 minutes and you can have a big, steaming bowl of chicken soup with a cute and cheesy toasted baguette and tons of other stuff piled on top. In a snap I tell you. You are going to like this. Here is my really tan hand. See? When I first started this blog thing, my brother mentioned that he had an incredible buffalo chicken soup that I needed to recreate. Then I’d make something out of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Luckily for me and my mouth, I was in the mood for buffalo chicken soup. Not luckily for my lips, which are the most chapped (chappiest? This soup is straight up broth. So let’s get all of the bits and pieces out of the way: Do I think you can make this in the crockpot? Do I think you should add heavy cream? Do I think you can use other cheese? What I love about this dish is that you can be completing the sauce (thanks to Vitamix) and toppings while the pasta is cooking, and the whole meal can be ready in under 20 minutes, and that includes cooking the cauliflower! I have deliberately left the flavour very mild for children.

**If you need to make this sauce nut-free you could blend in some avocado for the creaminess. Trust me, this vegan mac n cheese is delicious! Perfect Sweet Tea. Sweet Tea... Thank you for all of the lovely comments about my cranberry apple holiday pie...it was a big hit at the office holiday party last night!

This was my first time using all butter in the crust instead of a combination of butter and lard (I just can't bring myself to buy a tub of lard anymore, even if it does produce a heavenly crust!!!). It tasted great, but the bottom of the pie was really hard to cut. Any ideas why? We had an awesome dinner over at my boss' house last night. The hubb and I were really busy yesterday making boxes for our friends and co-workers. We started with marshmallows Saturday night. ***Update 12.12.2011***It appears that Katie's blog is no longer available, so I've hunted down the recipe for you. Make sure to be quick with getting the marshmallow goo from your mixer to the pan and smoothing it out, it starts to harden pretty quickly. I tried several different methods of cutting, and didn't have any knives that worked for me. This was so fun. Buttermilk Chicken (Gluten-free) Try Kitchen View!

This stuff is addictive when you slather it on crusty slices of Italian bread.

It uses ingredients that are the basis of so much of my cooking – fresh Parmesan, garlic, basil and olive oil. You’d think I was Italian or something! I’m not but many years ago my husband swore that with enough garlic and olive oil I’d become Italian. My skin’s not olive yet but, after 25 years, I’ve become an honorary Italian. At least I’ve got the cooking down! Parmesan Cheese, one big brickGarlic, 6 to 8 cloves depending on how garlicky you want itOlive OilCrushed Red PepperFresh Basil Leaves Crush and peel the garlic. Cut the cheese into cubes or chunks. Whirl the garlic in the food processor until it’s just barely chopped. Pulse until the cheese is coarsely crumbled.

Perfect Picnic Recipes - Best Recipes for a Picnic. One Hour Bread Rolls | Zuccotto (Grain Free, Gluten Free, Paleo, Primal) I think I might be having too much fun with desserts. I haven’t developed a new sweet-tooth, but am fascinated and challenged by just how many recipes there are to create without grains. I fell in love with this dessert many years ago, when I bought a copy of Everyday Italian. It’s a classic Italian book full of accessible recipes. I pull it off the shelf every few weeks and thumb through – always feeling inspired. Some cookbooks just do that for me. Maybe the recipes aren’t elaborate, but the copy, photos and combinations of recipes speak to me in a way that other cookbooks can’t.

Zuccotto is a fancy-looking dessert made from everyday ingredients. Zuccotto (Grain Free, Paleo, Primal, Gluten Free) Ingredients Instructions Line a 1.5 quart mixing bowl with plastic wrap, so that the wrap hangs over the side. Whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. To serve, open the plastic wrap and invert the cake onto a platter.

Garlic noodles to be exact – buttery, creamy, a little salty and sweet. Since going grain free, I stopped my ritual and I occasionally miss that bowl of noodles. It’s not necessarily the taste I miss, but the comfort of a meal in a bowl, turning a fork round-and-round to collect a mass of goodness, and the spaghetti sauce. I love spaghetti sauce. My youngest does too and many times, I’ve walked into the kitchen only to find her eating spaghetti sauce out of a bowl like soup. I’ve craved noodles soaked in sauce and finally found a remedy. Have you seen people talking about the vegetable slicer?

I’ve served the noodles with other sauces and vegetables, but pairing them with chicken parmesan is my favorite. Chicken Parmesan with Zucchini Noodles (Grain Free, Paleo, Primal, Gaps, Gluten Free) I prefer to use ghee in place of olive oil in this dish because ghee has a higher smoking point. If you want a change of pace that’s meat-free, yet full of protein, fiber, and very filling…this might be for you. I like it with Tzatziki on top (my recipe is in this post), or a little “fry sauce” (what some drive-ins call that wonderful mayo/ketchup combo), and with a thick slice of tomato, avocado, onion and lettuce, as a burger should be, it’s fab. Don’t be afraid of Quinoa. It cooks just like rice – might even be a little easier! – and can be subbed almost straight across in most recipes. UPDATE!! 2 rounded cups cooked quinoa (see note below for cooking instructions) 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or other variety, if you prefer) 1/2 cup low-fat cottage cheese 1 medium carrot, finely grated (OR 1 cup shredded zucchini, squeezed dry) 3 eggs 3 tablespoons all purpose flour 2 green onions, including white parts 1 /2 teaspoon sugar 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder Olive oil for frying 2 cups water.
