Ολυμπιακός - Ρουμπίν Καζάν 1-0 - Europa League. Ο έμπειρος πορτιέρο έκανε τα πάντα! Είχε τουλάχιστον τρεις εξαιρετικές επεμβάσεις με τις οποίες διατήρησε το μηδέν στην εστία του, έπαιξε για παραπάνω από 20 λεπτά τραυματίας και στο τέλος γνώρισε πρωτόγνωρες στιγμές αποθέωσης από τον κόσμο. Απόλυτη δικαίωση για τη διοίκηση που τον έφερε στον Ολυμπιακό και για τον ίδιο που δείχνει να ξαναγεννιέται (αγωνιστικά) στην Ελλάδα. Στο αγωνιστικό κομμάτι τώρα, οι Πειραιώτες ξεκίνησαν δυνατά, ευτύχησαν να σκοράρουν με γκολ-καραμπόλα του Τζιμπούρ (13') και μέχρι το τέλος του πρώτου μέρους είχαν ευκαιρίες για να διευρύνουν το σκορ, αλλά ήταν βιαστικοί και μη αποτελεσματικοί.
Στην επανάληψη η Ρουμπίν τα έπαιξε όλα για όλα, βγήκε μαζικά στην επίθεση, ο Ολυμπιακός -κακώς- κλείστηκε πίσω, όμως το 1-0 έμεινε χάρη στον σπουδαίο Ρόι Κάρολ. Η εμφάνιση μπορεί να μην ήταν πολύ καλή, όμως αυτό που μετράει για τους "ερυθρολεύκους" είναι η πρόκριση στους "16" του Europa League.
