Stenciled Washer and Dryer. I’m in the process of giving my Laundry Room a makeover and I’d really REALLY love to get a new front load washer & dryer to jazz up the space, but… well, I’m broke.
So instead of stenciling my Laundry Room wall as initially intended, I decided to give my 7 year old washer & dryer a bit of a facelift and breathe some new life into these old friends of mine. After hours of grazing through all the fabulous stencil options from Royal Design Studio, I finally decided the Donatella Damask. Swoon! I centered the thick plastic stencil on the front of my dryer and stuck it in place with some painter’s tape. Now it’s time to start painting! I used a little cabinet and trim roller to apply my paint. The first panel was up and I was extremely happy with the result so time to move onto the next section. Once I was finished painting the entire washer and dryer, I sealed the Chalk Paint to the surface with some polyurethane so it doesn’t scratch off the slick metal surface.

I really wanted a place to sleep outside with my daughter, and a comfy couch to relax on with friends. I didn’t have the funds to invest in a fancy piece of outdoor furniture, and I knew that with the weather as it is in Los Angeles, I could leave this outside pretty much all summer. I also knew that I would, at some point, need to move it under the awning to keep it dry, so I put it on wheels. And finally, I knew I would need arms, because I’m just not comfy on a couch without arms. So here is the DIY Pallet Daybed I came up with. I built this myself, with no help at all, in just a few days. Next I stocked up on supplies. I also got myself a new orbital sander because I somehow managed to lose my first one. First things first, sand those pallets down. Keep sanding for a long time, until you have a nice, smooth, splinter-free pallet. Blog AN.
