The larger scale project's has more to do with function that living space. My mother want's to cut down a forest so she can glimpse the ocean while having tea. I've lived in 3000 sq ft apartments, where there was enough wasted space to give the dog her own balcony. It wasn't until my first heating bill in the winter when I realized a 500 dollars a month to keep these floor to ceiling windows warm is a crime against everything. I also realized when i lost my job and hence shut off the heat at christmas to save for rent, that heating waterbottle's for everyone including the dog was as rediculous as wearing 2 pair's of snow pants to bed. But time's have changed I have a family and I'm blessed to not have a wife with princess dream's of how life should be, but now it's time to design a home and we found the best economy in a 700 sqft ecoshell monolithic dome.

Each of these ingredients is used in a technologically specific way. This technology was developed by the Monolithic Dome Institute (MDI). The domes can be designed to fit any architectural need: homes, cabins, churches, schools, gymnasiums, arenas and stadiums, bulk storages, landlord dwellings and various other privately or publicly owned facilities.
The dome, when finished, is earthquake, tornado and hurricane resistant (FEMA rates them as "near-absolute protection" from F5 tornadoes and Category 5 Hurricanes). Construction of an EcoShell begins with a small group of workers pouring a circular floor, to which the Airform is attached 2 inches in from the edge.
The Airform is inflated with a small, high-pressure fan, such as fans used for heavy duty vacuum cleaners. After the Airform is inflated, rebar and then concrete are applied over its exterior. The concrete can be mixed in a bucket or a fabric mixer and hand applied, or it can be mixed with commercial mixers and sprayed in place with Shotcrete equipment. This latter method obviously takes less manpower and at times produces better results. But the former method is also satisfactory and can be completed by inexperienced laborers. Once the concrete sets, the Airform is removed. When the EcoShell is to be used for bulk storage, the engineer must calculate the amount of side wall pressure and a corresponding increase in rebar must be added.
