15 Beautiful Off-Grid Homes We’d Like to Live In. The idea of eschewing electricity, running water, and the white picket fence is a terrifying prospect for the average American.

15 Beautiful Off-Grid Homes We’d Like to Live In

Based on the number of modern off-grid homes in remote locations that rely on the sun and wind for energy, others clearly disagree. Earlier this week, we were charmed by an efficient, beautiful home located in the middle of a cornfield. We feature it past the break, along with other sustainable houses far from the rat race. These stunning, alternative abodes make a strong argument for unplugging and creating a green oasis away from it all. This modern, eco-friendly Canadian home in rural Ontario sits in the middle of a cornfield.

A Shining Arc in Israel is Made Entirely Out of Reused Soup Cans

Many Israeli artists love to recycle ordinary objects into beautiful, magical art. Come on in to find out why the artists chose tin cans for the Bat-Yam International Biennale of landscape urbanism in 2008, and why these principles are timeless. Having built an eco-house myself I thought I had a basic grasp of how an eco-building works and why.

Building an Earthship « Green Building Blog

However, I have since realised that I had only just begun to understand the principles of eco-building and how they work with each other. Two weeks ago I attended a training course run by Brighton Permaculture Association on ‘An Introduction to Self-Building an Earthship’. I went to learn more about the principles of Earthships – buildings made from walls of tyres rammed full of earth.

However, I learnt a whole deal more and thoroughly enjoyed myself at the same time. For anyone remotely interested in eco-building, whether an Earthship or not, I would recommend this course. © Wolkenkuckucksheim - Cloud-Cuckoo-Land - Vozdushnyi zamok. Architectural evolution does not relentlessly pursue fixed standards. Instead, it adapts for cultural significance – and for this process, interpretation is key. Interpretation helps architecture to mediate and align cultural innovation with cultural need. To accomplish this, architectural evolution depends on design, function and interpretation. Optimizing architecture can be quite challenging as innovations that advance lifestyle in certain ways can also set-back lifestyle in others. In the 21st century, architectural developments are redefining scalability.
