Messenger Bag Tutorial. Well, the gift-giving season is upon us, and my holiday present-making is beginning… a bit later than most other people’s, I imagine! So if there are any more craft procrastinators out there, here’s something for you – I thought I’d share this little messenger bag I came up with a while ago: About a year ago, when I started riding my bike around town to dinner and pubs and whatnot, I discovered that there was a hole in my bag wardrobe, and what I really wanted was a purse-sized messenger bag. Something that would hold my wallet, phone, water bottle, and a light sweater, a bag that I could wear across my body on the bike and then the strap could be shortened up to a shoulder bag length to make it more manageable in crowded places. Of course, I wanted to make it.

I created this pattern for Pellon Projects, and it is intended for an advanced seamstress. It features leather handles and accent detailing on the front and side, as well as a top zip. There is a flap pocket on the front of the bag as well! I hope you'll enjoy making this bag! SUPPLIES- 1/2 yard exterior fabric- 1 yard interior fabric- 2 yards Pellon SF-101 fusible woven interfacing- 1 yard Pellon 520F (or you may substitute 1 yard Pellon Peltex 70 Ultra-Firm Sew-In combined with 1 yard fusible woven interfacing)- 1/2 yard Pellon fusible fleece- 20" zipper- 23" - 28" leather handles (I used size 28" handles for a shoulder bag)- 1/2" magnetic snap- zipper foot- seam ripper- coordinating thread- hand sewing needle- fabric marker or chalk. J'ai trouvé cette pochette super mignone et très pratique alors je m'en suis inspiré pour faire celle d'Isabelle. Voir aussi ma pochette en cliquant ici. C'est une pochette dans laquelle on met tout son bazar (clés, papiers, crayons etc ...) et quand on change de sac, on a juste à prendre la pochette ! Voici comment je l'ai faite, sachant qu'il y aura des améliorations. 1/ Il vous faut un tissu de 80 cm sur 31 cm minimum en tissu souple imperméable (genre toile de tente ou rideau de douche). (Si vous souhaitez mettre une doublure, ajouter un morceau de 30 cm sur 31 cm) Couper les pièces comme indiqué ici, en ajoutant 1,5 cm pour les coutures, sauf pour le haut des pièces dites « côté » où on ajoutera 3 cm (voir schéma). 2/ faire l’ourlet haut des poches 3) Mise en place et couture des poches extérieures .Assembler les parties poches aux « côtés » par un surfil en bas (dos des poches sur devant des côtés) .

I'm a bit fond of this print - from the Utopia range by Free Spirit. I went a bit silly last Christmas when Z and S Fabrics were having a big clearance sale....went into stash-building overdrive!! I seem to have liked this print enough to buy it in THREE colourways. So, in the spirit of the Von Trapp Family, I'm USING that fabric... on EVERYTHING!!!
