Oxfam set up a temporary retail space they termed a ‘Curiosity Shop’ in one of London’s largest department stores, Selfridges, that they stocked with celebrity fashion donations, popular samples and a hand-picked selection of vintage clothing. all proceeds from the sale of the items went to various charitable causes. As a way to connect shoppers with the stories behind the items being sold, the shop partnered with Tales of Things to create QR code tags for many of the celebrity donations. Visitors to the Curiosity Shop could then scan the mobile tags using their smartphones or any of the store’s bespoke RFID readers to reveal video of the associated celebrity explaining the charity and talking about the history of the item.
