Despite treacherous bathrooms, I made it home from Hong Kong, Bali and Papua last week. But then, as so often happens after vacation, work swallowed me whole. Hopefully, I'll be back to blogging soon.March 23rd, 2012 Next week I’m taking a long weekend with my Mom and heading to Charleston, SC for my first visit ever! I’ve herd such wonderful things about the southern city and have been itching to see it for myself. Especially after reading this: We’re staying at the Charleston Place hotel and while I tried my darndest to get a rezzie at the much recommended Husk, i was booked even WEEKS ago!

You know me, I LOVE a holiday and Easter is no exception. Decorating the table each year with new ideas is always challenging, and this year I found a great addition. At first I wasn't sure about the overall look, an egg inside of chocolate? But, after awhile it grew on me and now I think it would be a fun way to serve dessert in a charming egg cup. Here's how you make them:
The Hotel Angeleno is located in Los Angeles on the border of Brentwood next to Sunset Boulevard and the 405 Freeway. At the top of the hotel is the West Restaurant & Lounge , a great place for drinks or dinner for both hotel guests and locals, like myself. Recently, the restaurant sent out letters inviting local residents for dinner as part of a welcoming of the new menu and chef. I have frequented the West Restaurant & Lounge many times, but was looking forward to trying out the new menu - and it did not disappoint! Chef Mathew Woolf brought us three appetizers to try! Pictured here are two of the three - on the left the crispy egg over arugula and on the right the cheese plate.
