These Six Assassination Files Can Clarify the JFK Story in 2024. “It’s unlikely that somewhere in a CIA vault they have a document that says we did it,” Joseph Uscinski, a University of Miami political science professor told McClatchy News in December 2022 upon the release of several thousand JFK files that had long been partially classified. “So, I’m not exactly sure what people think they’re going to get.” I have a pretty good idea of what we’re going get from the last of the JFK files: corroboration that certain top CIA officers were running a covert operation involving Lee Harvey Oswald when President John F. Kennedy was killed. Such disclosures will lend credence to Rob Reiner and Soledad O’Brien’s popular podcast “Who Killed JFK?” (7 million downloads and counting), which says the president was ambushed by enemies of his liberal foreign policies on Cuba, Vietnam and the Soviet Union.

Straight Talk from the FBI Agent at JFK's Autopsy. James Sibert was one of two FBI agents who attended the autopsy of President John F. Kennedy at the Bethesda Naval Hospital on the night of Nov. 22, 1963. As one of the most important witnesses in the JFK assassination story, Sibert was guarded all his life about what he saw of the gunshot wounds that ended the life of the 35th president. Director J. Edgar Hoover made clear he wanted no questioning of the government’s “lone gunman” theory, and if Sibert crossed Hoover, his career was over. But Sibert was a meticulous agent who had attended several hundred autopsies. So when Kennedy’s body was brought out for examination by pathologists at Bethesda Naval Hospital (with a gallery full of unidentified generals and admirals looking on), he and fellow agent Francis O’Neill described what they saw in an official report, now available on the excellent British site, 22 November 1963. At Least John Judge Got A Mention - by George Bailey. (Originally posted at Oswald’s Mother in 9/9/12.) Here we go again. Noted JFK researcher and co-founder of the Coalition on Political Assassinations (COPA), John Judge, is interviewed by mainstream journalist Molly Redden. Redden does a lot of work for New Republic but this article, Stirring the Plot, appears on the Washington City (DC) Paper's website. The only redeeming part of the article is mentioning Judge's work on his project to found the Museum of Hidden History. And herein lies the problem we have presenting our information to these mainstream writers. Unfortunately, it doesn't help matters much to show a picture of John Judge looking completely demented. Redden's article has an awkward vibe to it.

These mainstream writers like Redden know how radioactive conspiracy thought is and how damaging it could be to a journalist's reputation to trek down that particular rabbit trail. Not done, Redden soldiers on. I've said it before and I'll say it again. N.Y. Times: The CIA Read Lee Harvey Oswald's Mail. MFF v. Biden Heads to Trial - by Jefferson Morley. The Mary Ferrell Foundation has won its day in court, which is why you should consider supporting the group with a donation. On July 14 Judge Richard Seeborg issued his first—but not last—ruling on the foundation’s lawsuit against President Biden and the National Archives for failure to enforce the JFK Records Act. Seeborg’s 17-page decision dismissed three counts of the foundation’s lawsuit while rejecting Justice Department motions to dismiss three others.

The ruling means the foundation’s lawyers can litigate for —immediate disclosure of all records generate by the Senate’s Church Committee and the House Select Committee on Assassination; —a federal investigation of the Secret Service’s destruction of JFK files in 1995; and —overhaul of the Archives’ dysfunctional finding aid to the JFK Records Collection. The Foundation is the only organization fighting Biden’s June 30 edict on JFK Records and its reliance on an ill-named CIA “Transparency Plan.”

Thank you for reading JFK Facts. Share. More on the Missing Air Force One Tape. Missing JFK Evidence: The Air Force One Tape. [This piece first ran on JFK Facts in 2013.] When audio engineer Ed Primeau learned in 2011 about a previously unknown recording of radio communications to and from Air Force One on Nov. 22, 1963, he volunteered his own time and expertise to enhance the tape for public consumption. That was the day the President John F. Kennedy was shot dead on a Dallas street and the new President Lyndon Johnson and First Lady Jackie Kennedy flew back to Washington with JFK's body.

"I thought this could really be exciting," Primeau said in a phone interview. "I've always been fascinated by history and the JFK conspiracy questions. " Primeau, known nationally for his work analyzing recordings heard in the Trayvon Martin murder trial, worked with JFK researcher Bill Kelly at no charge to enhance the tape. The result is an important, if incomplete, historical document, largely ignored by mainstream news organizations in the decade since its discovery. How Many JFK Documents Remain Secret? - by Jefferson Morley.

After President Biden’s June 30 announcement on JFK files, reporters have been calling the Mary Ferrell Foundation asking for basic some basic information. The National Archives claims that 99 percent of JFK files have been released but thousands remain redacted. People want to know. Is the 99 percent figure accurate?

How many JFK files did the president release? “That 99 percent figure is a throwaway number that sounds impressive to some audience perhaps,” said foundation president Rex Bradford in an email to the New York Times. He went on My best guess is that the number of records with redactions is more like 4,000 or so, based on a number NARA [National Archives and Records Administration] put out earlier. Bradford is the creator and webmaster of MaryFerrell.org, the internet’s largest collection of searchable JFK records.

(48) Late on a Friday Night, Biden Guts the JFK Records Act. On June 30 President Biden issued an executive order asserting the 1992 JFK Assassination Records Act is no longer in effect. “With my final certification made in this memorandum -– the last required under the Act – and definitive plans for future disclosures, my Administration is fulfilling the promise of transparency to the American people,” Biden declared, while acquiescing to demands of national security agencies that portions of thousands of assassination-related documents remain out of public view. “On May 1, 2023, the Acting Archivist informed me that the review process was complete,” Biden stated, "and recommended that I postpone the public release of certain redacted information in the records certified for temporary postponement of public release in the December 2022 Memorandum.”

Biden, who voted for the JFK Records Act in 1992, accepted the intelligence community’s claim that disclosure of these forty, fifty, and sixty year old documents will harm the United States in 2023. Mary Ferrell Foundation Seeks to Block Biden's JFK 'Transparency' Plan. JFK researchers filed a motion in federal court last week seeking a court injunction to block implementation of President Biden’s December 2022 order on JFK assassination records.

Charging that the White House and National Archives “have unlawfully postponed the review, identification and transmission of additional assassination records,” attorneys for the nonprofit Mary Ferrell Foundation asked U.S. District Chief Judge Richard Seeborg of the 9th District Court in San Francisco to block enforcement of a CIA-authored “Transparency Plan,” now scheduled to take effect July 1. The foundation, which hosts the largest collection of JFK assassination records on the internet, sued Biden and the National Archives last October for failure to enforce the JFK Act. The June 9 motion of injunctive release is part of that lawsuit.

The JFK Records Act, signed into law by President George H.W. Judge Seeborg will hear oral arguments in MFF vs. Behind the CIA's 'Benign Cover-Up' - by Jefferson Morley. One of the striking weaknesses of the official theory that a lone gunman killed President John F. Kennedy for no apparent reason is its failure to account for numerous false statements from the CIA about the events leading to November 22.

In any homicide investigation, false statements about the murder or the events leading to it are regarded as potentially significant and thus worth investigating. In the case of the murdered president, the documented misrepresentations of the CIA have evidentiary value. They show a pattern of deception, which amounts to a clue about where the rest of the story is hidden. The 1964 Warren Commission report assured the public that the CIA had cooperated fully in its investigation. In 2013, in-house historian David Robarge admitted what JFK skeptics had been saying for decades: In fact, the Agency had not cooperated with the Commission’s investigation.

It was, said Robarge in a memorable turn of phrase, a "benign cover-up.” The Most Important Blank Page in the JFK Assassination Files. Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. often quotes his uncle as saying he wanted to “splinter the agency into a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.”

In June 1961, White House adviser Arthur Schlesinger Jr. wrote a 15-page memo for President John F. Kennedy offering a plan to do just that. Schlesinger, a Harvard history professor, warned about the CIA’s “encroachment on the policy-making functions.” He laid out a practical case for breaking up the power of the spy service so that a single entity did not have sole power over both intelligence collection and analysis. Sixty years later, the CIA is still censoring more than a page of Schlesinger’s memo on “CIA Reorganization” with the justification that disclosure would harm U.S. national security in 2023.

It is perhaps the most important blank page remaining in the JFK files. Best New JFK File: CIA Meets the Warren Commission. The declassification of the latest JFK files continues to produce revelatory information. I’m referring to thousands of records released under President Biden’s memo of December 15, 2022, most recently on May 12. Among the records unearthed in the past six months are: The Heath Memo, a 1977 missive from a CIA insider that shows the Agency’s Miami station conducted an investigation of JFK’s assassination in south Florida in 1964. The results were never shared with investigators, Congress, or the public.

This 1976 CIA memo matters because it identifies no less than 39 CIA employees who had contact with the Warren Commission. The document also identifies nine officials who had daily contact with the Commission as it investigated JFK’s murder in 1964. The news is two-fold. The significance? How to Track Redactions in JFK Documents. A friend came to me with a problem that arises with every release of JFK assassination files: “How do we know what’s new?” For example, on April 27, the National Archives released several hundred JFK files including a 1975 interview with Bill Harvey, the portly chief of the CIA’s assassination program. For the first time in 48 years, the interview is entirely declassified. Harvey’s is a story worth knowing. Renowned as an operations officer, Harvey packed a pistol, drank heavily, loved mobster Johnny Rosselli and hated President Kennedy’s. (So said his wife in this exclusive video obtained by JFK Facts.)

One longtime CIA colleague suspected Harvey might have been involved in JFK’s assassination. When John Whitten, who worked with Harvey in Berlin, was asked by JFK investigators why Harvey would have told his wife to destroy his papers after his death in 1976, Whitten replied cryptically, “He was too young to have assassinated McKinley or Lincoln.” And here’s what was released last week. Dallas 1963: Window Watchers - by Jefferson Morley. Seventeen people are on the record as having observed suspicious activity in upper floor windows of the Texas School Book Depository (TSBD) around the time of President Kennedy’s assassination at 12:30 p.m, Central Standard Time on November 22, 1963. These witnesses, to varying degrees, were ideally positioned to see what was happening in that building at the time gunfire claimed the life of the liberal president. So asserts a careful investigation from TangoDown63 Web site, run by Greg Wagner. I recommend his story “Window Watchers” to anybody who wants to know more about what happened on November 22. “There is an important distinction,” Wagner notes, between two different types of witness statements offered here, direct and indirect. The most valuable being the direct conveyance of information from the witness to the reader.

Indirect statements also come in different forms, such as reports by law enforcement, articles written by news media, and accounts of interviews published in books.
