Five Random Words. Last week’s challenge is still live, and I’ll be tallying them throughout the day, but for now, hit the comments for flash fiction *and* drink recipes at “THE COCKTAIL.” And now, this week’s challenge. The Internet is home to many-a-random-word-generator, and there’s nothing quite like letting an insane computer determine the course of events! After all, we are ceding much of our lives to technology, why not let technology determine the nature of this week’s flash fiction bonanza? So, I hit up one such random word generator (this one, if you so care), and let it pick five words. Those five words are: “Figure.” “Dusk.” “Flirt.” “Mobile Phone.” “Wig.” Your flash fiction story — back up to 1000 words for the limit — must feature each of these five words. You have one week. Post stories at your own blogs. Go forth and be penmonkeys. Creative Thinking Resources. There has been a lot of interest lately around the concept of BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). The School system I work with is considering implementing this next year and there is currently a lot of discussion going on surrounding it. In typical fashion, many are opposed to this, believe it is going to lead to the sky falling, giant ants attacking and general chaos left right and center. I actually believe that BYOD presents many great opportunities. I like methods of measuring peoples ability that do it indirectly.

The problem with most ways of measuring ability is that people are aware of them and try to game the system (usually rather successfully). There has been a bit of talk recently about the idea of introducing programming in the curriculum for schools (for everyone, not just as part of a computer subject). The essence of creativity is perspective. Well I've made a decision to end the Wednesday articles on the website. The internet really is an amazing place.
