Petticoat - Evange Style. Good for you on making your own! I find that my skirts stick to tulle and dont drape nicely. Fabric petticoats drape much much better. I'd do a tiered and gathered petti made from plain old broadcloth. Start by determining how long you want your petti to be. I make most of my skirts 22-24 inches in length, so I'd go with about 20 inches long for a petticoat.

Next determine how many tiers you want. So take your length, and divide by the number of tiers you want. so 20/3 is aprox. 7" (I rounded up just because it's easier to work with whole numbers, also when you factor in things like hem and seam allowances, the finished measurements will be closer to 20 than 21). then determine how much gathering you want. This is what I would make:tier 1 = 2 strips of 45" width broadclothtier 2 = 3 strips of 45" width broadclothtier 3 = 4 strips of 45" width broadcloth Total = 9 7" strips of 45" width broadcloth.

(therefore 9x7" = 63", so you must buy a minimum of 63" of fabric. Sew_loli: Epic Skirts Project ...Navy Sailor Bustle Skirt DONE! So I finally finished this fourth skirt!
