The Art of Vintage Leather Jackets

http://vintageleatherjackets.blogspot.com/ Its that special time of year again. Clothing companies head west to Las Vegas for Magic and Project. Gigantic shows where little and big fashion brands alike get to show off their wears. It is also the time of year where I travel to Inspiration one more time to meet up with all the brethren and sistren that make up the crazy world of vintage dealers, vintage designers, fashion brand owners, collaborators and store owners.

The Vintagent

http://thevintagent.blogspot.com/ Escaping the gray skies of winter, a weekend in Provence sounds holiday-brochure perfect, which fairly describes this year's Avignon Motor Festival . As related i n last year's post , the Festival is a sprawling mélange of internal combustion applications, from motorcycles old and new, to vintage, sports, and luxury cars, tractors, farm equipment, buses, articulated trucks, military hardware, and the occasional plane and boat. The mechanical highlights of the weekend include a focused exhibits in the main hall, this year on French racing cars and motorcycles, which was instructive, wide-ranging, and delicious. The racing cars ranged from very early single-cylinder monstrosities to a very slick 1950s Peugeot streamliner/record breaker, all in matching French Racing Blue . Why French racing motorcycles didn't adopt this color is a mystery, as it seems every racing car from the period was painted the same distinctive color - they look fantastic, and you know exactly who made them.
For those of you working through the summer, I recommend shopping from the Glenbow Museum Archives for surrogate vacation snaps of the Canadian Rockies from the 1920s and 1930s. If you're too pressed for time, here is my summary of an ideal summer spent hiking, reading, rowing, dining, fishing, swimming and climbing - in perfect archival attire.
