On Friday, the United Nations General Assembly passed nine resolutions related to Palestine as part of a set of 24 resolutions and two texts related to human rights and decolonization. Several of the resolutions were passed almost unanimously, with only Israel voting against them. Among these were a resolution that called for an accelerated return of displaced persons who became refugees in 1967, and called on donor countries to assist the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) in meeting the needs of the Palestinian refugees.

Israel approves of the construction of more settlement units in the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) in a move expected to trigger fresh worldwide condemnation of Tel Aviv's settlements activities. The 14-home project, which is to be named Maale David, was approved late on Wednesday and is to be sited in the Arab neighborhood of Ras al-Amud near an existing Jewish settlement of 1,000 people, Israel's Channel One TV reported. Last month, Tel Aviv announced plans for building more than 800 settlement units in East al-Quds in response to Palestinian efforts to join the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Israel occupied East al-Quds and the West Bank in 1967.

Associated Press= JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli Cabinet ministers on Sunday criticized Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton over remarks attributed to her in which she expressed concerns over Israel's democracy. Clinton made the comments at a closed-door session over the weekend at the Saban Forum, a Mideast policy seminar sponsored by the Brookings Institution think tank. A senior U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because Clinton's remarks were considered off the record, confirmed that she expressed concerns about developments in Israel, including the NGO law and recent comments from ultraconservative politicians. The State Department will not release a transcript of Clinton's remarks. The Israeli press reported that Clinton criticized a recent wave of legislation in Israel that critics say are aimed at stifling dissent. Israeli media did not provide quotes or a detailed summary.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights says more than 800 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Israeli drone strikes in the Gaza Strip over the past five years. The rights group said that 825 Palestinians had died from the attacks carried out by the aerial vehicles from June 2006 up to October 2011, The Washington Post reported on Saturday. Israel regularly uses the assassination drones to initiate attacks or to detect targets for missile strikes to be carried out by F16 fighter jets and Apache helicopters. The Unites States and Israel closely collaborate on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles as part of an annual amount of USD 3 billion Washington contributes to the Israeli military. Tel Aviv killed more than 1,400 Palestinians in its December 2008 and January 2009 wars on Gaza.

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (PIC)-- Israel’s deputy foreign minister Danny Ayalon has said that his government was considering a cut off of all infrastructure services to the Gaza Strip. The Israeli radio quoted Ayalon on Saturday as saying that the Hamas-Fatah rapprochement would seriously infringe on the peace process in the region, adding that the reconciliation would practically turn the Palestinian Authority into a “terrorist entity”. Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu had earlier hoped that PA chief Mahmoud Abbas would freeze the reconciliation with Hamas and choose instead “peace with Israel”.

It said that 18 were arrested in Nablus province, 9 in Jenin, 8 in each of Jerusalem and Bethlehem, 7 in Al-Khalil, 6 in Ramallah, 2 in Salfit, and one in each of Tulkarem and Qalqilia. The report pointed out that the two young women were detained in Yatta village, Al-Khalil province, adding that they were 17 and 19 years old respectively. It noted that the 20 minors were 11 to 18 years old. It said that the IOF soldiers arrested four Palestinians who were released from PA jails in the West Bank, charging that the step fell in line with security coordination between the two.
