Toba catastrophe theory. The Toba supereruption was a supervolcanic eruption that occurred some time between 69,000 and 77,000 years ago at the site of present-day Lake Toba (Sumatra, Indonesia). It is one of the Earth's largest known eruptions. The Toba catastrophe hypothesis holds that this event caused a global volcanic winter of 6–10 years and possibly a 1,000-year-long cooling episode. The Toba event is the most closely studied super-eruption.[2][3][4] In 1993, science journalist Ann Gibbons suggested a link between the eruption and a bottleneck in human evolution, and Michael R. Rampino of New York University and Stephen Self of the University of Hawaii at Manoa gave support to the idea. In 1998, the bottleneck theory was further developed by Stanley H. Ambrose of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Supereruption[edit] The Toba eruption took place in Indonesia and deposited an ash layer approximately 15 centimetres thick over the whole of South Asia. Forms of Indian Paintings. Indian paintings reflect opulent culture and heritage of the country. Ideas and expressions of artists are articulated through paintings. India is a geographically and culturally diverse country. As a result the paintings of India reflect different methodology and materials, but the basic concept or theme behind all the forms of paintings remain the same.
Indian paintings boast of human figures and the beauty revolving around life. These paintings depict very much the time they were created in. Thus every painting has a very time specific message. There are several forms of Indian paintings. Each form of Indian paintings differs not only in terms of material used, and style but also the mode of expression. Unlike Western Countries where we can trace the development of different forms of paintings in a chronological manner, Indian paintings cannot be charted out in a chronological manner. Here is a brief overview of the various forms of Indian paintings. Cave and Miniature Paintings.

"Many hundreds of years before the coming of the English, the nations of India had been a collection of wealthy and highly civilised people, possessed of great language with an elaborate code of laws and social regulations, with exquisite artistic taste in architecture and decoration, producing conceptions which have greatly influenced the development of the most progressive races of the West.
" Henry Mayer Hyndman, 20th Century British politician. In the first three instalments of this Indian Independence Day series, I highlighted how India gave the modern world a panoply of its most prized gifts, from numerals, medicine and radio communications, to democracy, philosophy and multi-faceted spirituality. "Indian philosophers' subtleties make most of the great European philosophers look like schoolboys. " T. "So far as I am able to judge, nothing has been left undone, either by man or nature, to make India the most extraordinary country that the sun visits on his rounds.
Hexspeak. Using hexadecimal notation, which includes the digits 0123456789ABCDEF, it is possible to spell several words. Further words can be made by treating some of the decimal numbers as letters - the digit "0" can represent the letter "O", and "1" can represent the letters "I" or "L". Less commonly, "5" can represent "S", "7" represent "T", "12" represent "R" and "6" or "9" can represent "G" or "g" respectively. Numbers such as 2 or 8 can be used in a manner similar to leet or rebuses; e.g. the word "defecate" can be expressed either as DEFECA7E or DEFEC8. (2 bears a resemblance to Z, but because that letter is the least used in the English language, such a usage is rare.)

There has been a lot of commotion in the Indian Hacking scene lately, and I expressed some pretty strong views regarding that. When it comes to hacking, every other guy tends to tape the "hacker" word with his name/codename without even realizing its significance.
Then there is Facebook ...Have a look at it - Seriously guys..what were they thinking ?! I am still counting the number of “Indian Cyber Army” India has and the number of groups tend to increase recycling all the content, same VIP forums, same deface techniques, zero original research. Then there is Ankit Fadiya...dont let me even get started... In the end tired of all the bullshit around, I decided to cover an article on the REAL INDIAN HACKERS (or Hackers of Indian Origin), folks who are actually dedicated to security and are hackers in real sense.

Koushik Dutta or “Koush” Of Cultures Destroyed by Western Sexual Exploitation and Violent Religious Prudery | Bering in Mind. In working on my latest book Perv, some of the saddest material I came across involved the stormy cross-cultural conflicts erupting between Western ideals of sex and those discovered among other “exotic” societies. The field of cultural anthropology has its own dark history in this regard. For an embarrassingly long time, in fact, some unethical scholars were in the dubious business of publishing thinly veiled “ethnopornographies” of their trusting subjects. With revealing titles such as Untrodden Fields of Anthropology (1898), Neger-Eros (1928), and Erotikon (1966), these researchers seemed far less concerned about educating Western audiences than they were in titillating readers with lurid true stories of savage lust.
Some of these scandalous volumes even included explicit “photodocumentation” of the subjects at hand, which arguably involved the production of sexually exploitative images of indigenous people. It’s disturbing stuff. Why We Hate Infographics (And Why You Should) Those 2 guys invented the spreadsheet with Visicalc. I worship them for that. In 1989, during my first internship (don't even dare asking), I discovered and toyed for days with a mind-blowing machine: an plotting table.
It was like a printer, except that it was moving a dozen of color pencils over the paper, and it was meant to draw... graphs, as it was called in the 80's. Then in the early 90's, hipsters of that time decided that graphs weren't cool enough, and called them charts. On an unrelated note, charts started being printed on regular printers, and boredom killed millions of interns.
Then in the mid-00's, the art of plotting/graphing/charting data was re-named... data visualization. So here it is: 'data visualization' is the new cool name for 'chart'. But in the early 10's, infographics emerged, and the man in the street started getting confused: "Well, he said, is infographics the new new new name for charts"?

Rare Photos Of Partition Of India, 1947 ~ Mere Pix. The Partition of India ranks, beyond a doubt, as one of the 10 greatest tragedies in human history. The Partition of India was the process of dividing the subcontinent along sectarian lines, which took place in 1947 as India gained its independence from the British Raj. The northern, predominantly Muslim sections of India became the nation of Pakistan, while the southern and majority Hindu section became the Republic of India. In 1885, the Hindu-dominated Indian National Congress (INC) met for the first time. When the British made an attempt to divide the state of Bengal along religious lines in 1905, the INC lead huge protests against the plan.
This sparked the formation of the Muslim League, which sought to guarantee the rights of Muslims in any future independence negotiations. In April of 1919, a unit of the British Army went to Amritsar, in the Punjab, to silence pro-independence unrest. In the 1930s, Mohandas Gandhi became the leading figure in the INC. Sequential Art. Epic fictions: the Rashomon-like world of the Mahabharata. But the Mahabharata presents a special case study: its mercilessly questioning tone is very different from that of most other ancient literature, and it has a bleak sense of humour – which is one reason why much of the contemporary reference-making is done in a playful, tongue-in-cheek vein. The day after Baba Ramdev was arrested while disguised in a woman’s salwar-kameez, a leading newspaper offered a humorous edit quoting the epic on the subject of cross-dressing.
(“Arjuna wearing red silk, long hair and bangles as Brihannala hid his ‘masculine glory’ without eclipsing it ‘like Ketu covering the full moon’.”) Shashi Tharoor’s The Great Indian Novel (literally “The Maha Bharat Novel”) invented characters who were amalgams of Bheeshma and Mahatma Gandhi, Karna and Jinnah, Duryodhana and Indira Gandhi, but it didn’t feign a direct connection between the epic and contemporary politics; the tone was ironic rather than pedantic.
