March 5 — April 27, 2013 Opening: Tuesday, March 5, 6-8pm Organized by Bob Monk New York Times Preview.

Gagosian Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of Ed Ruscha’s legendary artist books together with books and works of art by more than 100 contemporary artists that respond directly and diversely to Ruscha’s original project. Organized by Bob Monk, “Ed Ruscha Books & Co.” has been drawn from private collections, including Ruscha’s own. Inspired by the unassuming books that he found on street stalls during a trip to Europe, in 1962 Ruscha published his first artist book, Twentysix Gasoline Stations under his own imprint, National Excelsior Press. Initially, the book received a poor reception, rejected by the Library of Congress for its “unorthodox form and supposed lack of information.” Atelier Parisien. Ben Medansky. Ben Medansky was born under the blue skies of Scottsdale, Arizona. He left his desert paradise to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, but the West was never far from his mind. After working for Peter Shire, Kelly Lamb, Anthony Pearson, Shio Kusaka, the Haas Brothers and a few other visionaries, Ben realized that his own visions were beckoning to be realized.

In the Summer of 2012, Ben Medansky Ceramics was created. Since then, Ben has blazed his own version of the California dream while staying true to the roots of his medium. His ceramics practice is simple: a few pounds of clay, an extruder, a wheel, basic tools, an ambitious team, experiments in glaze, and a vision for each individual object. With a studio in downtown Los Angeles, a hilly Silverlake retreat, the world's cutest Basenji (named Banjee-Girl), a growing team and ideas as boundless as the California sun, the dream is alive, well and captured in clay. info@benmedansky.com.

Camille Walala | Custom Design Collection. Casa G by Francesco Librizzi Studio | Yellowtrace. Casa G is the sort of place you’d expect from a seaside dwelling in Sicily – rounded doorways, bright white walls, vibrant tiles and a rooftop view with a serene panorama of the coast. Architect Librizzi Studio’s designs often embrace a sense of openness and Casa G is definitely consistent with Librizzi’s style – it is a structure that just seems to mould into the surrounding landscape. “When thinking about Sicily, it is almost impossible not to fall on the easy traps of stereotypes surrounding its imagery.

A winterless weather, the images of great seas and white sands, colourful ceramics and traditional finely decorated spaces are deeply rooted in the memories and expectations of anyone on the island. The great luxury offered there to designers is also the only possible strategy: totally abandoning any resistance” explains Francesco Librizzi on his website. The cozy, comfortable feeling of your favorite oversized sweater can be extended to your living room furniture with Mangas, a collection of modular seating pieces and rugs by Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola.

The knitted textures and patterns intentionally mimic the look of sweaters to capture that sensation. The collection consists of four shapes: a seating piece with a back, a pouf, a rectangular cross-shaped rug and a square cross-shaped rug. These units can be put together to make one big, low-profile lounging space for a group, or separated into individual seats. Available in a palette of cream, gray, bright yellow and a muted pink, the Mangas collection emphasizes casual comfort.

It made its debut at the Maison&Objet design fair in Paris in early 2013, and is available through Gan Rugs. CROSBY STUDIOS. CROSBY STUDIOS — NGRS OFFICE. Den Nya Kvinnogruppen. [B-FIT] is the first exhibition by design collective group FACT NON FACT exploring essential elements of object: material, form and composition and is of a new interpretation of the principle: “Form follows function” associated with industrial design in the 20th century.

There are various objects fall in certain position under regular categories respectively, but [B-fit] is to break this sense of equilibrium and it is to arouse natural enjoyment from simple innocence. The role of material is no longer limited by means of design and expands the meaning of object as revealing the essential qualities and the beauty of materials. In this collection, being away from a limited role for function, each form of objects represents simplicity and purity of basic geometrical figures. There are original colors and textures of 9 different materials: iron, brass, plaster, terracotta, marble, wood, glass and concrete that fit together; it opens up infinite possibilities for varied assemblage. 착륙 (현상) Freunde von Freunden. DNK is a group of feminist artists and craftswomen founded in 2013 by Evelina Hedin, Hilda Hellström, Kakan Hermansson, Anna Nordström, Malena Norlin and Åsa Norman. The impulse to form the group came from the members’ reactions to what they describe as a patriarchal art and craft context.

In order to promote and make room for an approach that encourages solidarity with other women, DNK initiates discussion and produces exhibitions and workshops embracing practical material-based activities. The group describes Radical Friendship, the title of the exhibition at Gustavsbergs Konsthall, in the following terms: Gustavsbergs Konsthall. Hannasroom.com. Home / signe lybeck. Home / SomeWow. Even though some of these photos are for catalogues they still feel warm and inviting, not a sterile picture of a sofa in a white room. The first photo is so striking, how does one capture the interiors of a space through two walls of glass? I don’t know how he does it but the results are stunning.
