Marketing as a Parenting Tool - Marketing Lessons for Parents - Using Marketing in Parenting — ModernMami™.com. It’s widely known that marketing works on kids.
We always talk about how the latest toy commercial really makes an impact on our kids and they then go around asking for said toy. Or how seeing an ad on the street causes them to ask you about the product on the ad. But, have you ever tried to use marketing as a parenting tool? Think about it. If advertisements and marketing campaigns work on our kids, why not use that to our advantage? 1) My baby girl says she doesn’t know what to do on a relaxing Saturday afternoon.
Play with words. 2) I want baby girl to try to drink some coconut water, something I grew up drinking, but that’s not so popular in this culture she’s growing up in. Hearing this fun story from when mami and daddy were little makes her interested. 3) I have a media event to attend, followed by 3 days at a blogging conference. The idea is to get her so excited about our “adventure” that she starts to wonder about it herself and ask questions.

One of my Twelve Commandments is “Lighten up,” and I have a lot of resolutions aimed at trying to be a more light-hearted parent: less nagging, more laughing. We all want a peaceful, cheerful, even joyous, atmosphere at home — but we can’t nag and yell our way to get there. Here are some strategies that help me: 1. At least once a day, make each child helpless with laughter. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Have you found any good strategies to cut back on the shouting and to add moments of laughing, singing, and saying “yes”? Smarter About Feelings. An introduction to emotional intelligence for kids When I was a kid, no one taught me about feelings.
Even when I took psychology in college I still didn’t learn why sometimes I felt angry or sad or worried or happy — and that I had a choice about my feelings. I noticed that I had different feelings, and other people did too. I noticed that sometimes I could get more of what I wanted by using the feelings that matched the situation, but a lot of the time it seemed like feelings were something that just happened to me. How about you? Have you learned much about your feelings? Do you feel in charge of your feelings, or does it seem like they’re in charge of you? Almost accidentally, I started working in a job where I was teaching people about feelings, so I had to learn a lot! “Emotional intelligence” means being smart with feelings. Some people have not heard about emotional intelligence; it’s pretty much like other forms of intelligence.
Why does it matter? Practice Random Acts of Kindness. This area is here to give ideas to people that just can not seem to think of a good idea for a random act of kindness on their own, or just a place for you to leave ideas you would like to see people do.
Every now and then, buy some pet food or supplies for your local food pantry. Our's sometimes serves those who have just had a house fire, or flood damage, or other such natural disaster. At times like that, their pets are just as cold, hungry, frightened and needful as the people who have lost their homes. Pick up small florist vases at thrift stores or yard sales for about 10 cents and buy wrapped flowers, for a few more dollars, then arrange them in the vases yourself.
Open up the local phone book, pick a few names and deliver them to their doorstep, early in the morning before everyone is awake. Bake goodies and take them to the police station, fire station, emergency room, etc... anyone that spends their life helping others, really deserves all you can do for them.
