How to Ditch Big Brother and Disappear Forever

There are many reasons you might want to disappear, some honorable some not so honorable. Maybe you have a stalker or you would like more privacy, maybe you are avoiding domestic violence or identity theft ... whatever the reason is here are a few tips that will help you do just that. The very first thing you should do if you would like to make your earthly presence a little less conspicuous is to stop getting your mail at the place you live. While he excelled at infiltrating computer systems from a keyboard and had a sharp memory for numbers, “Ghost in the Wires” (written with William L. Simon) really showcases another of Mitnick’s skills: social engineering, or what he describes as “the casual or calculated manipulation of people to influence them to do things they would not ordinarily do.” http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/14/books/review/ghost-in-the-wires-by-kevin-mitnick-with-william-l-simon-book-review.html?src=recg

http://www.dw.de/international-hacktivists-help-syrian-citizens-circumvent-internet-censorship/a-15324784-1 As the government cracks down on protesters in Syria, hacker groups from abroad are helping people to get access to the Web and to communicate safely despite surveillance and repression. Human rights groups and the international community are calling for an arms embargo and an end to government repression in Syria, which has resulted in almost 2,000 deaths since March. Like in Egypt and Tunisia earlier this year, Syria has responded to the uprising not only with violence, but also by putting its citizens under surveillance and censoring the internet. What such regimes didn't count on was that international internet activists would step in and fight back. Since the Arab Spring began, hacktivists have been building ad hoc telecommunications systems all over the Middle East to help citizens get information on what's going on there out of these countries. When the government shut down the Internet, Telecomix helped Egyptians by getting them access to dial-up modems.

Modern History Sourcebook: Benito Mussolini: What is Fascism, 1932 Benito Mussolini (1883-1945) over the course of his lifetime went from Socialism - he was editor of Avanti , a socialist newspaper - to the leadership of a new political movement called "fascism" [after "fasces", the symbol of bound sticks used a totem of power in ancient Rome]. Mussolini came to power after the "March on Rome" in 1922, and was appointed Prime Minister by King Victor Emmanuel. In 1932 Mussolini wrote (with the help of Giovanni Gentile) and entry for the Italian Encyclopedia on the definition of fascism. Fascism, the more it considers and observes the future and the development of humanity quite apart from political considerations of the moment, believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace. It thus repudiates the doctrine of Pacifism -- born of a renunciation of the struggle and an act of cowardice in the face of sacrifice. http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/mod/mussolini-fascism.asp

Ethical Culture of Chinese Businesses Raise Doubts about Financial Reports Chinese-style western capitalism has been spreading to virtually every continent as China seeks to form joint ventures in Africa, South America, and elsewhere to ensure reliable access to needed natural resources to feed China’s hunger for economic growth and development. In recent years it has spread its “currency reserve wings” into the US through Chinese state-owned and private enterprises. The question for the investing public is whether Chinese financial statements can be relied on and, correspondingly, whether Chinese businesses can be trusted as they flex their economic muscle.
