Launch Decided it was time for some CSS tinkering again and ended up creating this set of CSS3 scrolling styles. Not intended for any practical use but the visuals are surprisingly impactful. This works by applying a future / past class to list items outside of the viewport as you scroll. Based on this class a variety of transforms are transitioned to via CSS. http://hakim.se/#/experiments/css3-3d-slideshow

Then, we have two sections: the “ content ” div and the “ nav ” ul. The content div is what holds all our pages, and the “nav” ul is what allows us to access different pages. Now, right inside the “content” div, you’ll notice 6 nested divs: “ content-inner-1 ” through “ content-inner-6 “.

Today we want to show you how to create a simple elastic slideshow with a thumbnail preview. The slideshow will adjust automatically to its surrounding container and we can navigate through the slides by using the thumbnail previewer or the autoplay slideshow option. The fabulous photography used in the demo is by Bartek Lurka and it is licensed under the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 3.0 Unported License . We will create two unordered lists, one for the main slider and one for the thumbnail navigation beneath the large image. The “large slider” list elements will contain the image and a title with an h2 and h3 element: http://tympanus.net/codrops/2011/11/21/elastic-image-slideshow-with-thumbnail-preview/

Coding In Paradise: 3D Slides Built with HTML5, CSS3, and SVG

http://blog.codinginparadise.org/2010/10/3d-slides-built-with-html5-css3-and-svg.html I've created a 3D slide deck that uses HTML5, CSS3, and a bit of SVG ( video ). The main idea behind this deck is to be able to 'zoom' into topics to as deep a level as necessary. Slides are nested, like an outline. For example, I gave a talk at Future of Web Apps recently on HTML5, CSS3, and other web technologies and only had 40 minutes, so I just skimmed the surface of the slides. However, in a few days I'll be speaking at Fronteers and will be diving deep into SVG and Canvas, so those slides can be zoomed into.
http://css-tricks.com/anythingslider-1-4/ Since the AnythingSlider has been on GitHub, a number of people have pushed the project forward. Big props to ProLoser , Mottie , meancode , betzster , and kalasoft for committing code to make it more feature rich, smarter, and more optimized. Mottie's fork is the furthest along so I'll link the download button below to that. There has been lots of changes since last time we talked about this project around here.

Since most interactions only involve a single dimension, and then only small adjustments are made to the filter values, incremental filtering and reducing is significantly faster than starting from scratch. Crossfilter uses sorted indexes (and a few bit-twiddling hacks) to make this possible, dramatically increasing the performance of live histograms and top-K lists.

Slideshow Patterns in Modern Web Design

http://designreviver.com/articles/slideshow-patterns-in-modern-web-design/ The first example is dedicated to the standard slideshow pattern. As you can see from the picture, it’s an animated slideshow with a non numbered navigation. Although this is the most utilized slideshow pattern of all, let’s try to understand why this example stands above the rest. First off, the animation is not a common fade or slide. It’s a slide with a subtle easing, that gives to the animation a personal look. There’s a lot of space around the slideshow and the controls that creates a very elegant and subtle feel.
