Le financement participatif, une alternative à l'emprunt bancaire
La plate-forme d'intermédiation WiSeed, créée par Thierry Merquiol en juin 2009, propose quant à elle d'investir dans des start-up présélectionnées. C'est en testant Myfootballclub.co.uk, où il s'est improvisé investisseur dans une équipe de foot, puis en étant l'un des 347 producteurs chanceux de Grégoire en 2008 sur My Major Company, que Thierry Merquiol, ancien directeur de l'Incubateur Midi-Pyrénées, en a eu l'idée. Les internautes choisissent dans un panel de start-up celle qu'ils souhaitent soutenir en engageant 100 euros au minimum. Dès que le montant minimal d'investissement (30 000 euros) pour une entreprise est atteint, WiSeed fonde une société holding qui réunit les investisseurs et prend une participation dans la société cible. "Nous diffusons l'appel de fonds auprès de nos 1 300 internautes-investisseurs potentiels", précise Thierry Merquiol.
