https://github.com/pkamenarsky/atea If you are like me and find yourself in a situation where you want to quickly write down a task, bug or an idea you just thought of, more often than not you end up opening up your favorite text editor and saving a TODO.txt somewhere. At first it contains 3 or 4 entries; then it starts to grow - and you have to invent a custom DSL just so you can track priorities, projects or time. Even though a text file based system doesn't scale well (or at all) beyond a single person, it has one unbeatable advantage over web-interface based task management tools - locally editing and reordering tasks is much easier and faster, especially with editors like vim or Emacs . But what if the need arises to subdivide tasks into projects (or modules)?

Change Bad Habits With Joes Goals

We all have vices, even though we may not all admit that we have them. Some people smoke, other people go shopping too much, and still others sit in front of their laptop every night eating a full bag of nacho chips while writing articles. A very cool website called Joes Goals , which Israel touched on briefly in 5 Fun Personal Web Apps to REALLY Track Your Life , helps people track their daily goals and achieve the dreams they strive for. However, a very cool alternative benefit of the Joe’s Goals method is that it also helps people change bad habits. It may seem silly to think that just by using some free website, you can put an end to that huge habit that makes you feel horrible about yourself. But, in this article, you’ll learn how you can use the free Joe’s Goals web application to put an end to those nasty vices you’ve been meaning to put a stop to for years.

I’m a big fan of a certain popular to–do list app for Mac OS. But I’ve stopped using it because I’ve made an open source replacement called Wingman . You can download it and install it on your computer or server. Alternatively, try it out on wingman.heroku.com . I can’t promise you won’t lose data on the Heroku instance, so treat it as a demo version. It’s built with OpenID, Rails 3, MongoDB, and jQuery UI.

http://www.lifehack.org/articles/productivity/how-logging-your-day-can-lead-to-higher-effectiveness.html I recently started a job as a Programmer Analyst for a large insurance company and spend most of my days fixing technical issues, programming, and creating solutions with other engineers. It’s an awesome job, yet at the same time can become extremely technical and complicated in nature. Not just because of the technical stuff that I need to remember how to do but because of the inherent business processes that I have to take in and learn on a daily basis. After doing a little research online I found that there is the idea of the “Programmer Log”, which is simply a time and dated log of things that you have done in the day, things that you have learned that are related to your job, and even problems to watch out for as you go through your work day.
